Sandifer Research and Original Creative Work About the companies: Suzanne Farrell Ballet: I was employed by the Kennedy Center to design lighting for a majority of the dances in the repertory of the Kennedy Center's resident dance company, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet. The Artistic Director, Suzanne Farrell, is one of the prima ballet artists of the twentieth century. Urban Bush Women: The Brooklyn based dance company, Urban Bush Women, has been presented worldwide and includes among its honors a 1992 Bessie; the 1994 Capezio Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance; and 1998 and 2004 Doris Duke Awards for New Work from the American Dance Festival. For more information, please visit http://www.urbanbushwomen.org/. Compagnie Jant-Bi has been acclaimed for its dynamic performances around the world. Germaine Acogny, called the mother of contemporary dance in Africa, is a winner of the 2007 Bessie award for choreography and is the Director and founder of Compagnie Jant-Bi and L'Ecoles des Sables International Dance Center in Toubab Dialaw, Senegal. For more information, please visit http://www.jant-bi-acogny.com. Seaside Music Theater: Seaside Music Theater mounted eight fully envisioned productions each year. Almost all of the productions were musicals or operas with full orchestra. SMT had a permanent staff of twenty but was home to a company of up to 200 during the summer seasons. This number included union performers, directors, designers and musicians from around the world as well as burgeoning talent from across the country. An average of 48,000 audience members passed through the doors of SMT each year. In May of 2008, after thirty-two years, SMT was forced to close due to financial difficulties. I was the Lighting Designer for the productions listed from 1984 to 2007. In addition, I designed the repertory light plot (the basic layout of equipment, for all productions) for every summer season since 1984, with the exception of the 2002 summer season. Directors of each production are listed. Lester Malizia was not only a Director but was also the Artistic Director of the company. Ballet Mississippi was a professional classical ballet company based in Jackson, Mississippi until the early 1990's. Presentations Nonrefereed Presentations at Conferences Sandifer, J. R. A longshot 6 3/4-length winner on debut going seven furlongs at Meydan on Dec. 17, Mnasek had to settle for second, seven lengths behind Saturday=s Saudi Derby contender Soft Whisper (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), after missing the break in the Listed UAE 1000 Guineas up to a mile on Jan. 28. Away much more smoothly up to 1900 metres on Thursday, Mnasek broke on top from the rail but soon dropped back to allow Jumeirah Beach (Ire) (Exceed and Excel {Aus}) to take up the running. Fourth and about three lengths off the lead rounding the first bend, jockey Pat Dobbs made a deliberate move to put the filly on the outside midway down the backstretch and she was poised ominously four-wide rounding Summer Romance | DRC/Erika Rasmussen the bend. Shooting to the lead as they straightened, Mnasek By Kelsey Riley drew clear effortlessly to crush her overmatched opposition by Summer Romance (Ire) (Kingman {GB}) was named a >TDN 6 1/2 lengths. Nayefah (Super Saver) made eye-catching Rising Star= on debut when winning a Yarmouth maiden by two headway late to be second, while Last Sunset (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) lengths in June of 2019, and she followed that effort up was third.

Dancing into the Chthulucene: Sensuous Ecological Activism in the 21st Century Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By Kelly Perl Klein Graduate Program in Dance Studies The Ohio State University 2019 Dissertation Dr. Harmony Bench, Advisor Dr. Ann Cooper Albright Dr. Hannah Kosstrin Dr. Mytheli Sreenivas Copyrighted by Kelly Perl Klein 2019 2 Abstract This dissertation centers sensuous movement-based performance and practice as particularly powerful modes of activism toward sustainability and multi-species justice in the early decades of the 21st century. Proposing a model of “sensuous ecological activism,” the author elucidates the sensual components of feminist philosopher and biologist Donna Haraway’s (2016) concept of the Chthulucene, articulating how sensuous movement performance and practice interpellate Chthonic subjectivities. The dissertation explores the possibilities and limits of performances of vulnerability, experiences of interconnection, practices of sensitization, and embodied practices of radical inclusion as forms of activism in the context of contemporary neoliberal capitalism and competitive individualism. Two theatrical dance works and two communities of practice from India and the US are considered in relationship to neoliberal shifts in global economic policy that began in the late 1970s. The author analyzes the dance work The Dammed (2013) by the Darpana Academy for Performing Arts in Ahmedabad,

King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO) Ascot Racecourse Background Information for the 65th Running Saturday, July 25, 2015 Winners of the Investec Derby going on to the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO) Unbeaten Golden Horn, whose victories this year include the Investec Derby and the Coral-Eclipse, will try to become the 14th Derby winner to go on to success in Ascot’s midsummer highlight, the Group One King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO), in the same year and the first since Galileo in 2001. Britain's premier all-aged 12-furlong contest, worth a boosted £1.215 million this year, takes place at 3.50pm on Saturday, July 25. Golden Horn extended his perfect record to five races on July 4 in the 10-furlong Group One Coral- Eclipse at Sandown Park, beating older opponents for the first time in great style. The three-year-old Cape Cross colt, owned by breeder Anthony Oppenheimer and trained by John Gosden in Newmarket, captured Britain's premier Classic, the Investec Derby, over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs impressively on June 6 after being supplemented following a runaway Betfred Dante Stakes success at York in May. If successful at Ascot on July 25, Golden Horn would also become the fourth horse capture the Derby, Eclipse and King George in the same year. ËËË Three horses have completed the Derby/Eclipse/King George treble in the same year - Nashwan (1989), Mill Reef (1971) and Tulyar (1952). ËËË The 2001 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes saw Galileo become the first Derby winner at Epsom Downs to win the Ascot contest since Lammtarra in 1995.
