Nominations for 4Th Annual Premios Platino of Iberoamerican Cinema Announced Nominations for 4th Annual Premios Platino of Iberoamerican Cinema announced. • The nominees in the category of Best Iberoamerican Feature Film are Aquarius (Dona Clara), by Kleber Mendonça Filho (Brazil); El Ciudadano Ilustre, by Gastón Duprat, Mariano Cohn (Argentina, Spain); El Hombre de las mil caras, by Alberto Rodríguez (Spain); Julieta, by Pedro Almodóvar (Spain) and Neruda, by Pablo Larraín (Chile, Argentina, Spain, France, USA). • The movies with the most nominations are: Un monstruo viene a verme, by Juan Antonio Bayona with 7 nominations, and Neruda by Pablo Larrain with 5 nominations. Furthermore; Desde allá by LOranzo Vigas, El ciudadano ilustre by Gaston Duprat, El hombre de las mil caras by Alberto Rodriguez, Julieta by Pedro Almodovar, and La delgada línea amarilla by Celso Garcia with 4 nominations each. • Alfredo Castro, Angie Cepeda, Damián Alcázar, Eduard Fernández, Emma Suárez, Juana Acosta, Luis Gnecco, Natalia Oreiro, Óscar Martínez and Sonia Braga are nominees for Best Actor and Best Actress. • The Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 22nd in Madrid and will be broadcast by TNT in LatinAmerica, and by many major national TV channels around the globe. Los Angeles, May 31st, 2017. – Actors Angie Cepeda, Edward James Olmos, Kate del Castillo and Miguel Ángel Silvestre announced the nominations for the 15 categories of the 4th Annual Platino Awards of Iberoamerican Cinema in a press conference at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. The 4th Annual Premios Platino has set up a new record with 847 qualifiying films. The 7 movies with the most nominations participated in many prestigious film festivals, such as Venice Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Mar del Plata and San Sebastian, which shows the great status of Iberoamerican Cinema. The nominees for Best Director are Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn for El Cuidadano Ilustre, Juan Antonio Bayona for Un monstruo viene a verme, Kleber Mendonça Filho for Aquarius, Pablo Larraín, for Neruda and Pedro Almodóvar for Julieta. The nominees for Best Screenplay are Alberto Rodríguez and Rafael Cobos for El hombre de las mil caras, Alejandro Brugues, Pierre Edelman and Pavel Giroud for El acompañante, Andrés Duprat for El Ciudadano Ilustre, Celso García for La delgada línea amarilla and Guillermo Calderón for Neruda. The nominees for Best Actress are Angie Cepeda for La semilla del silencio, Emma Suárez for Julieta, Juana Acosta for Anna, Natalia Oreiro for Gilda, no me arrepiento de este amor and the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Platino Award Honoree, Sonia Braga, for Aquarius. The Educational Values in Films Award category which is bestowed in collaboration with the Foundation for Aid against Drug Addiction, FAD has the following nominees: El Acompañante, by Pavel Giroud (Cuba, Colombia, Panama, Venezuela), Esteban, by Jonal Cosculluela (Cuba, Spain), El Jeremías, by Anwar Safa (Mexico), Rara, by Pepa San Martín (Chile, Argentina) and Un monstruo viene a verme, by Juan Antonio Bayona (Spain). This year the Premios Platino have a new category: Best Iberoamerican Mini-Series or TV Show and the nominees are Bala Loca, by Gabriel Díaz, Oscar Godoy (Chile); Cuatro Estaciones en La Habana, by Félix Viscarret (Cuba, Spain); El Marginal, by Luis Ortega, Mariano Ardanaz, Javier Pérez, Alejandro Ciancio (Argentina); El Ministerio del Tiempo, by Marc Vigil, Abigail Schaaff, Jorge Dorado, Paco Plaza, Javier Ruiz Caldera (Spain); La Niña, by Rodrigo Triana, Camilo Vega (Colombia) and Velvet, by David Pinillos and Manuel Gómez Pereira (Spain). The winner of each category will be chosen by an international jury consisting of over 700 creatives who have participated in the previous Premios Platinos.The winners will be announced on July 22nd at La Caja Magica in Madrid. The Awards ceremony is produced thanks to the support to the Ayuntamiento de Madrid. The Premios PLATINO of Iberoamerican Cinema have, after only four years, become the most important global event for the Iberoamerican film industry by serving as its key international platform. During today’s press conference, AFI FEST presented by Audi, the international film festival of the American Film Institute received a Premio Platino for their contribution to Iberoamerican Cinema. Jacqueline Lyanga, Director of AFI FEST was honored to receive this prestigious Award. “AFI FEST is honored to be receiving a Premio Platino award from EGEDA this year recognizing our continued support of IberoAmerican cinema”, said Jacqueline Lyanga, Director, AFI FEST. "Over the past thirty years, AFI FEST has presented numerous Iberoamerican films in Los Angeles and during this time we have seen incredible growth in this cinema's influence and audience in the United States." AFI FEST presented by Audi is the American Film Institute's annual celebration of international cinema from modern masters, auteurs and emerging filmmakers. It takes place each fall in Los Angeles, CA, as awards season begins in the heart of Hollywood and features nightly red-carpet galas, special screenings, conversations and tributes. AFI FEST remains the first and only festival of its stature that is free to the public, offering the best of current cinema in Hollywood. It is Los Angeles' longest-running international film festival and a showcase for the best films of the year, among them many movies from Iberoamerica. EGEDA US has been a community supporter and collaborator of AFI FEST for many years and acknowledges the great platform that AFI FEST is for many Iberoamerican filmmakers. Juan Carlos Arciniegas, Ambassador of Premios Platino, Elvi Cano and Raul Vazquez both from Premios Platino and Gonzalo Elvira (FIPCA), underlined the importance of the Platinos as the highest profile event for cinema in Spanish and Portuguese languages, having generated a lot of media and public attention worldwide during their past award galas. Further testimony to the importance of the Platinos was the presence of prolific and well known figures in the audio-visual and cinematic arts in Iberoamerica during the nomination event such as Mimi Lazo, Patricia de Leon, Javier Fuentes Leon, Celines Toribio, Luis Fernandez, Alec Whaite, Patricia Maya, Reynaldo Pacheco, Emilio Kauderer, Lorena Bernal, Carla Ortiz and Jazz Vila. The previous Awards ceremonies in Panama, Marbella and Punta del Este, welcomed Iberoamerican stars such as Antonio Banderas, Sonia Braga, Eugenio Derbez, Leandra Leal, Ricardo Darín, Angie Cepeda, Guillermo Francella, Dolores Fonzi, Edward James Olmos, Rita Moreno, Javier Cámara, Adriana Barraza and Joaquim de Almeida. The last was broadcasted by 17 TV channels in 5 continents. More exciting details will be released in the coming weeks about the awards gala in Madrid, as well as the recipient of the Premios Platino Lifetime Achievement Award. Ricardo Darin, Antonio Banderas and Sonia Braga received this prestigious award in previous years. Premios Platino of Iberoamerican Cinema is organized by EGEDA (Spain´s producers rights collection society), with FIPCA (the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers) and with the support of The Academies of Motion Picture of Iberoamerica and the Institutes of Iberoamerican cinema, Latin Artist and Fundación AISGE.     Nuevo Cine Argentino De Rapado a Historias extraordinarias Veinticinco años, veinticinco libros El ciclo político inaugurado en Argentina a fines de 1983 se abrió bajo el auspicio de generosas promesas de justicia, renovación de la vida pública y ampliación de la ciudadanía, y conoció logros y retrocesos, fortalezas y desmayos, sobresaltos, obstáculos y reveses, en los más diversos planos, a lo largo de todos estos años. Que fue- ron años de fuertes transformaciones de los esquemas productivos y de la estructura social, de importantes cambios en la vida pública y privada, de desarrollo de nuevas formas de la vida colectiva, de actividad cultural y de consumo y también de expansión, hasta ni- veles nunca antes conocidos en nuestra historia, de la pobreza y la miseria. La película está coproducida por Telefónica Studios y se proyectó la pasada semana con excelentes críticas. El Gran Premio de la Semana de la Crítica se concede a una de las siete películas que se presentan a competición. Algunos de los directores premiados en años anteriores son Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro González Iñárritu o Gaspar Noé. ‘Paulina’ está protagonizada por Dolores Fonzi, Cristian Salguero, Esteban Lamothe, Verónica Llinas y Oscar Martínez, bajo la dirección de Santiago Mitre con guión de Mitre y Mariano Llinas. Está basada en el largometraje dirigido en 1961 por Daniel Tinayre y es una coproducción entre Argentina, Francia y Brasil. El film cuenta la historia de Paulina, una joven abogada que vuelve a su ciudad natal donde su padre, Fernando, es juez. En contra de la voluntad de Fernando, Paulina decide dar clases en una escuela en una zona marginal. Unas semanas después, regresando a su hogar, es brutalmente atacada. Lo que Paulina no sospechará es que sus atacantes están más cerca de lo que imagina. Santiago Mitre es uno de los talentos jóvenes más importantes del cine argentino y latinoamericano tras el éxito internacional de ‘El Estudiante’, que fue presentada en más de 40 festivales.

Nº 26 Alfredo Dillon Diciembre 2017 Un caso excepcional en el cine argentino: el remake de La patota Alfredo Dillon Universidad Católica Argentina Argentina Introducción La patota (2015)1, dirigida por Santiago Mitre y protagonizada por Dolores Fonzi, es un remake del film homónimo dirigido por Daniel Tinayre y protagonizado por Mirtha Legrand en 1960, devenido un clásico del cine argentino. El guion de la versión original estuvo a cargo de Eduardo Borrás, quien además escribió otros films emblemáticos del cine nacional como Las aguas bajan turbias (1952), de Hugo del Carril, o El rufián (1961), también dirigida por Tinayre. El guion de la nueva versión estuvo a cargo de Mitre y de Mariano Llinás. Aunque no implique un cambio de soporte, consideramos aquí al remake como una forma de adaptación, puesto que surge de un proceso en el cual “una forma artística deviene en otra, la inspira, desarrolla, comenta, etc.” (Sánchez Noriega 2000: 23). En este sentido, La patota constituye un caso bastante excepcional en la historia del cine argentino, que registra muy pocos remakes: los principales han sido los clásicos Nobleza gaucha (de 1915 y 1937), Pampa bárbara (en 1945 y 1966), Un guapo del 900 (1952, 1960, 1971) y El romance del Aniceto y la Francisca (1967 y 2008, ambas dirigidas por Leonardo Favio). En el caso que nos ocupa, el argumento de las dos películas puede sintetizarse de manera idéntica: cuentan la historia de Paulina Vidal, una joven docente que es violada por una patota de la que forman parte algunos de sus alumnos.
