LANGUAGE COURSES AND EXAMS APRIL – JUNE 2020 GOETHE-INSTITUT
When you take a course at the Goethe-Institut you do more than just learn the language – you immerse yourself in German language and culture.
As the official cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Goethe-Institut fosters a multi-faceted image of Germany in the world and promotes international cultural exchange.
Before you start a course, we test your language level and help you choose the appropriate course. We offer courses at all levels. At the end of each level, you can take one of our internationally recognized exams.
We offer the following types of courses: General Language Courses In a general course, all skills are trained equally: writing, reading, speaking, listening. You also learn grammar and important facts and figures about Germany. We offer general language courses for teenagers and adults.
Special Courses Our special courses allow you to focus on specific aspects depending on your strengths and weaknesses, or your personal interests. Various special courses are available throughout the year.
Online Courses Our online group course makes it easy for you to learn German when you have a busy schedule or if you live in an area where no German courses are offered.
Tailor Made Courses We work with you to tailor the ideal course for an individual or for a small group. The contents, frequency, and duration of the course will be made to suit your needs and wishes.
Exams: After each level you have the opportunity to take an exam that leads to an official certification. Whether you need it or you simply want to prove it to yourself, our exams provide a valid and reliable measurement of your knowledge.
03 LEVELS
We offer courses at all levels – From absolute beginner to advanced
At the Goethe-Institut, you can start with a beginner’s course, or, you can enter at a more advanced level since each semester, we offer courses at all levels. If you have no previous knowledge of German, you register for A1.1.
Our levels comply with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages that sets clear standards for each level and is the standard for all European languages.
The course system and exams are coordinated worldwide. You may continue learning German at a Goethe-Institut in Germany or via distance learning. Visit our website or find out more at the language department.

Exams – Prove your knowledge
Whether you are registered or not to one of the following classes at the Goethe-Institut Ottawa: A1.3, A2.3, B1.4, B2.3, C1.4 or C2.4, you always have the possibility to take an exam. The dates for the group exams are fixed. For an individual exam you may schedule an appointment with us.
