HAEAHN ARCHITECTURE 06/2021 ISSUE NO.46 HAEAHN LETTER Client | National Pension Service Location | Jeonju, Korea Use | office Site Area | 21,000㎡ The National Total Floor Area | 20,390㎡ Scale | 9F / B1 Design | 2017 Completion | 2021 Pension Service Global Fund Hall The National Pension Service Global Fund Hall is the very first step for Jeonju to be an international hub of finance. The master plan of the National Pension Service by creating an external space that integrates the three buildings, along with the headquarter of the National Pension Service relocated in 2015, the [ Completed Work ] headquarter of Fund Management completed in 2017 and the global funding center completed in 2021. It mainly consists of the upper level that reflects the slogan of NPS - “Assure the Nation, Strengthen the Fund”- with its design to evoke trust and the lower level with supporting facilities emblemizing the vision of ’Harmonious Smile’. For the upper-level office spaces ecofriendly façade system is applied, providing workers with optimized workspaces. The lower level traditionally designed supporting facilities are symbolic and deployable, filled with meeting rooms of various sizes. Through the atrium placed in the center of the building, the upper and lower floors are intermixed intricately in three dimensions and all employees can share and communicate their visions in the "Open Creative Space" prepared on each floor. Client | SHINSEGAE E&C Location | Hanam, Korea Use | Officetel, Retail Site Area | 9,277㎡ Villiv Hanam Total Floor Area | 51,317㎡ Scale | 10F / B2 Design | 2017 Completion | 2021 Collaborator | Frits van Dongen [ Completed Work ] Villiv Hanam, facing Sigak Park in the south and the Han River to its east, proposed a new residential community under the concept “Life Connected to Home.” The rectangular mass stands strong as it comprises of a total of 28 different types, including six different sizes and four different ceiling heights, while it envelops an internal atrium that connects Sigak Park in the south and a public lot in the south. The internal, void-like space within the simple yet lively mass shows diversity as it embraces natural elements, and the functional programs are designed to interconnect between nature and life, work and life and function and emotion. By offering three-dimensional experiences between various residential spaces, We aims to make this place a model for new residential space. Client | Eulji University Location | Uijeongbu, Korea Use | Hospitals in Affiliation Uijeongbu Site Area | 124,439㎡ Total Floor Area | 210,676㎡ Scale | Hospital) 15F/B5, Campus) 8F/B1 Eulji University and Design | 2013 Completion | 2020 Collaborator | JUNGLIM Architecture Medical Center With the university and the medical center each requiring frontality, the axis was established so that the university and hospital routes were separated and the campus's dignity was clearly revealed. [ Completed Work ] Such a design layout can keep the traffic flow separate while still connecting the site with the adjacent reserved area for versatile future usage. "Smart Louver," a future-oriented image applied to hospitals, inherits Eulji Hospital's identity at the same time increasing the eco-friendly efficiency via the optimal modification. With the route to the medical center at the core, doctor’s offices and laboratories were aptly allocated, maximizing the efficiency of wayfinding signage and flows of treatment for patients. Visitors can experience various events in spaces held in the lobby and the atrium, through which the medical center provides users with the optimal and lively environment. The concept envisions a new urban format where dwellers can Urban & Architecture experience an open and permeable structure with expanding boundaries in which they settle in and Masterplan for coexist alongside various living organisms, man, nature and their communities. The plan includes a Suwon Dangsu District 2 multi-porous structure embracing parks, gardens and streets where residents can harmonize their daily life and communicate with urbanity and nature within their environment. We expects to see the rise of an interesting city which will bring about a change in the space and emotional experience in such [ 1st Prize Winner ] consecutive spaces. Aiming for a “Slow City” where people can take time to stroll along the human-scale street, for it provides residents with a porous structure in which they can enjoy pleasant encounters, accidental or impromptu. We believes this is the new model of a city required by this era. Client | LH Location | Asan & Goyang, Korea Use | Residential Site Area | Asan) 49.781㎡, Asan Tangjeong 2-A11BL, Goyang) 21,222㎡ Total Floor Area | Asan) 125,245㎡, Goyang) 17,293㎡ Scale | Asan) 29F/B2, Goyang Samsong Goyang) 3F/B1 Design | 2021 Collaborator | Dasom Urban & Architects Block-Type Housing This project comprised of two projects: the Asan Tangjeong Block 2-A11 Project and the Goyang Samsong Block- type Housing Project. The Asan Project was to create a residential zone bordering on urbanity and nature. To [ 1st Prize Winner ] implement this goal, we aimed to create an open residential zone overlooking Cheonancheon Stream and in- cluding the rich nature found in neighborhood parks in the zone. Considering the natural topology of the site, we planned two different levels and added a sense of vitality by planning subsidiary facilities in the middle of the site. In consideration of schools and urban streets nearby, main residential buildings were built low so as not to block sunlight. Located on the border where Hanmulcheon Stream and Mt. Maebong met, the Goyang Project was also to create an open residential zone. We aimed to create a town with beautiful landscapes and diverse lifestyles. Three community gardens were designed for residents to communicate with their environment and through the central avenue connecting towns, they could enjoy diverse lifestyles and beautiful landscapes. Client | Chungbuk Development Corporation Location | Cheongju, Korea Use | Public Office Chungcheongbuk-do Site Area | 12,621㎡ Total Floor Area | 30,286㎡ Scale | 5F / B2 Design | 2021 Provincial Council & Collaborator | rchione A&C, M5plus 2nd Office Building For this project, we focused on the value of the Provincial Council consisting of representatives selected by citizens, who competed, adjusted and drew rational conclusions through dialogues. Having moved [ 1st Prize Winner ] away from the existing image of the stiff, conservative political establishment, we planned the open and liberal Provincial Council building while maintaining and expanding the spatial order with the pur- pose to newly define the establishment as one complex administrative town by successfully combining the existing Office Building, the newly built Provincial Council building and the second Office Building. Through the C-shaped layout, the building comprises of a plaza in the south with three open sides, which also aligned with a small park in front of the main building. The atrium for citizens between the Provincial Council building and the Office Building is open to all visitors. With the multi-purpose audito- rium at its center, the atrium area comes with a library, an exhibition hall and convenience facilities for citizens. The entire space, indoor and outdoor, is designed for public use by local citizens. Client | Songdo Global Complex Development Location | Incheon, Korea Use | Mixed Use, Residential, Songdo Officetel Site Area | 168,928㎡ Total Floor Area | 608,614㎡ Scale | 49F / B2 Design | 2021 Global Complex Phase 2, The project “Songdo Grand Vista” is the starting point of the project Songdo Zone 11. The design plan was to establish a landmark featuring the strong identity of Songdo. Based on the integrated develop- Mixed Use Complex ment plan for the grand zone combining five blocks, We designed an attractive landmark highlight- ing the skyline created by super high-rise buildings and a premium residential area featuring exotic waterfront terrace houses that fit well with the lush green zone and waterfront views. By building the [ 1st Prize Winner ] integrated commercial arcade “Smart Green Avenue,” as the center of the zone and the connecting point for Yonsei University International Campus and the high-tech-edge Bio Cluster, and by intensively allocating various subsidiary and commercial facilities there, we aimed to fortify its plan to integrate a sense of connection between blocks and regions.
