In the first instance these will be teacher led input sessions. The taught sessions build on the main dimensions of music such as pitch, pulse and rhythm, and musical concepts such as tempo, dynamics, timbre and duration. The scheme uses singing and vocal work as a foundation for learning, and includes a repertoire of simple songs and rhymes for the children to learn by heart and internalise. Additionally, movement and actions are an essential component to children’s musical development at this age. It also includes naming and making sounds with tuned and untuned instruments.
