A Proposal for the 2014 Commemoration

of the 75th Anniversary of ’s Passing

Part 1

Event Description: A collaborative forum between and Canada to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Dr. Norman Bethune’s 1939 passing

Organizing Partners:  Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries  Bethune’s Spirit Research Association of China  Bethune Medical NCO School,  Government of Tang County, Province  Bethune Bai Qiuen Canadian Alliance

Dates: October 11th 2014 to October 13th 2014

Location: City of Shijiazhuang, Hebei province

Tang County, Hebei province

Number of delegates: Approximately 300, including 200 in-country and 50-100 international attendees

Registration fee: 600 RMB or (US $100, Can $ 110)

Registration Fee includes the following:

 Transportation to and from the train station and airport in Shijiazhuang  All meals listed in the schedule (note: Breakfast provided by the hotel)  Transportation to the forum (including transportation to Tang County)  Printed materials at the forum  Welcome banquet and the performance.

Registration fee does NOT include:

 Accommodation during the forum  Select meals during the meetings (refer to schedule for exceptions)  Tips and other personal expenses

 Official welcome by the volunteers of the Bethune Medical NCO School at the train station and the airport in Shijiazhuang  Registration in the lobby of the hotel

Forum Opening Ceremony

 Canadian team: approximately 30-50 people, may be joined by students and staffs of the Bethune Medical NCO School of PLA and International peace hospital of PLA

 Fly from Taiyuan to Wuhan, the Capital City of Hubei Province, where Dr. Bethune first landed from Hong Kong and the meeting place of the leaders of Eighth Route Army.

 Tour of Nanking, the Capital City of Jiangsu Province  Visit the famous museum of the Second World War.
