CAL LEAGUE SCOREBOARD TEN OUT OF ELEVEN AIN’T THAT BAD: Wednesday night’s loss for Rancho snapped a nine-game win streak, ending their YESTERDAY longest winning streak of the year. However, the Quakes waisted no time getting back in the win column, as they forced a rubber match on Friday with a Thursday night victory. The club has jumped out to a 10-1 record in the month of July, vying for their fourth San Jose 4 at RANCHO CUCAMONGA 8 consecutive winning month. In the midst of that nine-game win streak, the offense produced just under seven runs per game (6.78), Inland Empire 3 at Visalia 4 while the pitching staff notched a stellar 1.32 ERA (82 IP/12 ER). Rancho secured close victories over the stretch, winning five of Lake Elsinore 2 at Modesto 0 the nine by three runs or less. They are back to a season-high 20 games over .500 with their overall record on the year at 55-35. The Stockton 10 at Lancaster 11 Quakes fell six games short of the 2018 squad’s franchise record 15 straight wins. GOODBYE SOUTH DIVISION, FOR NOW: Tuesday night’s win, completing a sweep over Lake Elsinore, officially ended a 43- game stretch against the South Division. In the 43 games against their divisional opposites, Rancho went 27-16. Wednesday night’s TODAY series opener against the Giants began a stretch of 12 straight games against the North Division, all versus San Jose and Stockton. Lake Elsinore at Visalia, 7:00 PM JOSIAH GRAY: The New Rochelle, NY native, RHP Josiah Gray toes the slab on Friday, making his 12th start of the year. In 2019, Inland Empire at Modesto, 7:05 PM Gray has shined with a 6-0 record with a 2.39 ERA. Gray’s last start came on July 7th against Inland, as he tossed seven innings, al- Stockton at RANCHO CUCAMONGA, 7:05 PM lowing one run, while recording six strikeouts. In an eventual 6-1 win for the Quakes, the right-hander recorded yet another win, his sixth win in his last eight attempts. When omitting his Rancho debut, the Le Moyne College product now sports a sub-two mark of a 1.98 ERA (59.1 IP/13 ER). Gray’s start against San Jose will serve as his first career start against the club. The Dodgers acquired Gray via a trade this past offseason with Cincinnati. He was originally drafted by the Reds as a CBB pick in the 2018 draft. 2019 QUAKES AT A GLANCE JOSE MARTE: RHP Jose Marte toes the rubber on the other side, making his 9th start of the season.
