The win allowed Rancho to avoid the sweep, as they did suffer their second 1-5 series of the year (vs Modesto in May). The Quakes will also add relievers Elio Serrano and Joan Valdez, Modesto at Visalia, 6:00 PM Rancho Cucamonga who will join the club from Extended Spring Training in Arizona. at Fresno, 6:50 PM THE CURSE OF SAN JOSE?: The Quakes were sitting pretty coming into their six-game set in San Jose, but their lead in the San Jose at Stockton, 7:05 PM division (3.5 games) dropped down to just a half-game over the Lake Elsinore Storm, thanks to the fact that Rancho matched a season-worst, five-game losing streak. The Quakes nearly suffered their first sweep of the year, as the Giants roared back on Sunday from an early 5-0 deficit to tie the game at 5-5. Despite the loss, the Giants lead the entire league with a record of 33-15. With the scheduling being altered in 2021 due to Coronavirus protocols and restrictions, the Quakes will not return to San Jose and will only see them one other time, as the Giants will visit LoanMart Field to open a six-game set starting on August 19th. TOMORROW AL-CANTARA, ALL THE TIME: The Quakes have received a massive boost thanks to the presence of OF Ismael Alcantara, who’s Inland Empire at Lake Elsinore, 5:35 PM hitting .379 (11-for-29) in nine games since joining the team. Alcantara has also smacked a pair of homers and driven in ten in those Modesto at Visalia, 6:00 PM nine games. If he had enough at-bats to qualify, Alcantara would be #4 in the entire league. Rancho Cucamonga at Fresno, 6:50 PM GOODBYE LANCASTER, HELLO FRESNO: The Quakes and Fresno Grizzlies are meeting for the first time in history tonight, San Jose at Stockton, 7:05 PM as this is the one and only series between the two teams in 2021. With Major League Baseball’s initiative to reduce the minor leagues to 120 teams before the start of the 2021 season, the Lancaster JetHawks were eliminated from the then-California League. Taking LOW-A WEST SCOREBOARD their spot in the newly-renamed Low-A West League are the Fresno Grizzlies, who join the league from the former Triple-A Pacific SUNDAY Coast League, where they were members since 1998. The home of the Grizzlies is Chukchansi Park, which seats a more Triple-A appropriate crowd of 10,000-plus fans.
