A total of 903 students were awarded degrees in their respective disciplines, including 519 from BTech, 26 from MTech, 23 from BSc Maths (H), 27 from MSc (Maths), 94 from BBA, 61 from BCom (H), 25 from BSc (Eco), 32 from MBA, 77 from BBA-LLB (H), 7 from LLM and 12 awarded PhD. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded to 31 candidates who topped the list in their respective streams and 4 Certificates of Merit were awarded. Department of EECE (CSEO2018056) Workshop q A hands-on workshop on ‘Antenna Array Design through MATLAB’ (under context learning) was conducted by Ms Hitu Sharma, Mathsworks for BTech, ECE, 3rd and 5th Sem students on 2 Nov 2018. She discussed how to create and analyze antenna arrays in Antenna Toolbox, with emphasis on concepts such as beam scanning, side lobe level, mutual coupling, element patterns, and grating lobes, how to analyse the 3D modelling of Antenna, analyzing s-parameters, impedance etc. It helped students to deal with the practical aspect of the subject in their curriculum and hence gained experience to work on different types of antenna applications which will help them to make mini projects in their lab work. (ECE2018WO011) Workshop Data Analysis and Research Group, Dept of CSE&IT, organized a ‘Workshop on Augmented Reality’ on 9 Nov 2018 which was conducted by Mr Sourav Nayyar, Project Manager, Fidelity International, Gurugram. It started with an introduction to Augmented Reality (AR), AR-commonly used frameworks and AR-development tools. He extended AR to mixed reality and virtual reality. Antenna Array Design through MATLAB Faculty Activity Dr Vandana Khanna delivered a guest lecture on ‘Solar Energy: The Ultimate Renewable Resource’ to 2nd and 3rd year students at DPGITM, Gurugram, on 29 Oct 2018. Guest Lecture Department of CSE&IT organized a guest lecture on ‘Routing Algorithms and Firewalls’ by Mr Gaurav Sidana, Network Engineer from a reputed organization, for 5th Sem students on 13 Nov 2018, followed by interaction with students on careers in networking. He highlighted and explained the benefits of CCNA certification along with latest technologies and on-going research areas of Computer Network. Training on Chemical Drawing Software The Dept of APS organized hands-on training on 'Chemical Drawing Software' for BTech Computer Science 1st Year students on 16 Nov 2018 in which 30 students participated. ACD/Chem Sketch is a molecular modelling programme used to create and modify images of chemical structures. Molecules and molecular models are displayed in two and three dimensions to understand the structure of chemical bonds and the nature of the functional groups. The session started with the basics of the software, followed by hands-on training on ACD/Chem Sketch. Demonstrations of various components of the software were given in an interactive manner. A session named 'Play with Chemical Structures' tested the skills, knowledge as well as time management of participants. ISHRAE Student Sub-chapter To impart contextual based education and to promote industry-institute interaction, a technical lecture was organized on 5 Nov 2018 for students enrolled for the course on 'Refrigeration & Air conditioning' (MEL 405). The speaker, Mr Sanjay Hans, Emerson Climate Technologies (India) Pvt Ltd, Gurugram, is an industry expert with over 18 years of experience in HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration) industry. He spoke about the procedures and practices followed in the industry for estimating cooling loads of various HVAC&R applications. The lecture was organized in association with Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) and coordinated by Dr Amit Arora and Mr Jagparvesh Dahiya. (MED2018WO004) IEI Society Student Chapters q A 'Hands-on workshop on Raspberry Pi' was organized by The Institution of Engineers (India)-IEI Society Student Chapter for students of ECE and CSE at the Dept of EECE on 2 Nov 2018. A professional and experienced trainer, Mr Abhinov Chakraborty was invited from Sofcon Training Ltd. The workshop started with the introduction to types of Raspberry Pi boards and then Raspberry Pi 3 board was covered in detail in context to its pin diagram, connections and applications etc. The session proceeded with Python programming, its important syntax with respect to its use in interfacing of sensors and actuators with raspberry Pi. Later, the concepts of hardware and python coding were consolidated and used in interfacing of LEDs, ultrasonic sensor and NCU Rotaract Club uploading of the sensor data to thingspeak platform. It was a very useful and interactive workshop and was attended by students Dept of EECE NCU Rotaract Club organised a Diwali collection & donation drive wherein 'Joy and CSE departments. The old age home shelters 12 aged couples with significant disabilities. Students also distributed blankets, clothes, non- perishable food items (salt, oil, biscuits, flour etc), slippers, stationery items, candles and diyas amongst the slum dwellers of Vir Nagar. Labourers at a few construction sites and people surviving with meagre resources (children selling flowers, rickshaw pullers) were among the other beneficiaries of the drive who blessed the students with smiles on their faces. The universities participated. competition was held to promote interest in the most untouched areas in moot court competitions among law students i.e., Labour Law and Goods and Service Tax Law. Reliance Foundation Youth Sports The men’s football team of The NorthCap University made its presence felt in the Delhi Region through the qualifying rounds of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports by beating SGT University in the first round and Amity University in the second round. The University applauds its team, coach and supporting SPEED 2018 staff for their efforts and hopes for a better performance in the coming year. BTech students showcased their Physics projects developed under the guidance of Dr Sunita Sharma, Dept of APS, in the annual technical event ‘SPEED 2018’ at GD Goenka Uuniversity, Gurugram. Hero’s Challenge 2.0 The NorthCap University’s sports teams participated in ‘Hero’s Challenge 2.0’ organized at BML Munjal University, Gurugram, from 5-7 Oct 2018 in which other Universities namely MLNC, Manipal University, MDU, OP Jindal University, Amity University etc also participated. Our teams faced fierce competition but came out victorious in their respective sports events. NCU Inter-Departmental Lawn Tennis Tournament teams earned laurels in almost every sport in which they participated at the The Inter-Departmental Boys Lawn Tennis Tournament 2018-19 was held from event. We are thankful to the Management of the University for supporting the 13-15 Nov 2018. SOM team comprising of BBA students Yash Chitnis, Sagar teams.
