Director (UCDL) Vice Chancellor’s Message I take this opportunity to welcome students joining the University Centre for Distance Learning (UCDL) in undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes. Chaudhary Devi Lal University, established by an Act No. 9 of Legislative Assembly, is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. This University has been accredited ‘B’ Grade by NAAC. The UCDL of Ch. Devi Lal University is playing an effective role throughout thirteen years by providing quality education through distance mode in different courses recognized from UGC/DEB. Currently, 19 Opened and Distance Learning Courses are offered by UCDL with undergraduate, postgraduate degrees and various diplomas. The purpose of Distance Education is to increase the accessibility of education, beyond the boundaries of a number of factors such as distance from the centers of education, social taboos especially for the female students, and also the housewives, bindings to acquire education while in job, or other such logistics, which, at times, are a hurdle to access higher education in India. The UCDL for Distance Learning is committed to offer the opportunities of higher education to such students through distance education mode. Our objectives are to reach the unreached and to make education accessible to all sections of the society. This Seminar is being organised on the occasion of International Gita Mahotsav by Haryana Government from 17th to 25th December, 2020. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister stressed upon preserving and promoting the treasure of spiritual knowledge of Bhagvad Gita and underlined the importance of teaching it to younger generation. He said that Geeta is repository of spiritual wealth and teaches us to live our lives according to the principles of Dharma. He said that it also teaches us about practical aspects of life and is relevant in present times also. He said that it teaches us about the principle of Karma and inspire us to accord importance to our duty without expecting results. MP govt launches ‘Roadmap to Aatma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh’: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched a roadmap to “Aatma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh 2023” through a virtual event. Under the roadmap, a special focus will be on health and education in the state. About Aatma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh 2023: Four seminars were conducted on physical infrastructure, good governance, health and education to prepare the roadmap of the state. On the basis of the inputs received by the experts in the seminar, the roadmap of Aatma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh has been prepared. Economy and employment will also be major focus areas and small and cottage industries will be motivated. A network of hospitals will be established in the state focusing on the health sector. Along with launching the roadmap to Aatma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh, the chief minister also transferred the interest-free loan of 10 thousand rupees each into the accounts of rural street vendors under the Mukhya Mantri rural Street Vendor Loan Scheme. The scheme was launched by the state government to provide a loan up to Rs 10,000 to street vendors in rural areas. Under the scheme, the state government will bear 14% interest subsidy per loan beneficiary (for loans up to Rs 10,000).
