Ms. Groschner has served the public media station since February 14, 2015. During her tenure, the station recognized growth in audience, membership, local programming, and community financial support, recapturing its status as a thriving community resource for Vermont. The Vermont PBS Board of Directors has formed a search committee for a national search process to identify Groschner’s successor. Steve Ferreira, appointed by Groschner last September as the station’s Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of interim CEO following a full board vote at the next meeting of the Board of Directors. “We thank Holly for her dedicated service, leadership and vision,” said Marguerite Dibble, Vermont PBS Board Chair. “When Holly joined Vermont PBS, she agreed to stay for three years. Five years later and now stronger than ever, the Board and Staff of Vermont PBS look toward our next chapter of service to Vermonters.” Highlights of Groschner’s leadership include: • Spearheaded the station’s 2019 relocation to new headquarters in Winooski’s Town Center, including a financial investment in technical upgrades for improved broadcast reliability and expanded digital production technology. • Shifted a 3-5% annual decline in membership to growth of 4-5%, with an increase in average annual donations of 3.7% over the same period. -

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MEDIA CONTACTS Erin Callanan 617-905-6866 (m) [email protected] Lubna Abuulbah [email protected] PBS and WGBH to Provide At-Home Learning Programs for Students and Educators Nationwide During School Closures Through WORLD Channel BOSTON (MarCh 26, 2020) – As schools across the country close in response to the COVID-19 virus, PBS and WGBH Boston have partnered to support distance learning. Beginning on Monday, March 30, the public media WORLD Channel from WGBH will provide a daily, five-hour At-Home Learning Service, for students in grades 6-12, to PBS stations nationwide. From 12 noon – 5 pm EDT weekdays, WORLD will offer programs on science, history and English language arts, and include related learning resources from PBS LearningMedia, a free online service of thousands of educational resources. (Check local listings for channel information and times.) “With WORLD channel available free over the air, these educational programs can reach all families, including those who do not have internet access or computers at home,” said Liz Cheng, general manager of television at WGBH and WORLD Channel. “We are proud to work with PBS stations across the country to make this service widely available.” The new broadcast programming will be supplemented with additional resources from PBS LearningMedia, which is partnering with the WORLD Channel. The resources in PBS LearningMedia, which were developed based on feedback from educators, are aligned to curriculum standards in every state and contextualized for educational use. These resources include grab-and-go activities, lesson plans, interactive lessons, and media that illustrate specific topics or themes and support materials across subjects. -

(July 1, 2021)— Effective today, Vermont PBS and Vermont Public Radio have merged to become a unified public media organization dedicated to community service. The Vermont PBS and VPR boards of directors first announced their intention to merge last September. “Together, we can reach out to new audiences, so we live up to our vision of being a place for everyone,” said CEO Scott Finn. “This merger allows us to expand our offerings while continuing the services our existing supporters depend on every day.” Finn will lead the new, integrated organization alongside COO Steve Ferreira. Nicole Junas Ravlin chairs the new board of directors, and Marguerite Dibble serves as vice chair. “This past year has really demonstrated how much the community relies on us to share the arts, news, education, culture, local storytelling, and create connections,” said Junas Ravlin. “It’s never been more important to strengthen public media.” “Service, inclusion, and engagement will be at the heart of everything we do,” added Dibble. A new leadership team, composed of executives from both of the legacy organizations, has been named, and the staff has been reorganized into teams with a focus on service, inclusion and community engagement. No staff positions were eliminated as a result of this merger. The former headquarters of each organization, located in Winooski and Colchester, will be retained, with integrated teams staffing both locations. -

A Roundtable Discussion of Emerging Recommendations for Principles, Policies, and Practices October 24 – 25, 2011 Madison, WI Roundtable Participants Malcolm Brett Malcolm Brett is Director of Broadcast and Media Innovations of Wisconsin Public University of Wisconsin Extension. He is responsible for Wisconsin Television and Radio Public Television, Wisconsin Public Radio and Media Innovations applied to broadcasting and education. Media Innovations includes research involving interactive/enhanced television, video delivery over Internet 2 and media asset management. Brett previously held the position of director of television for WPT. During the past two decades at WPT, Brett also has served as a production manager for the national program New Tech Times, corporate development manager, director of development and executive director of Friends of WHA-TV. His extensive knowledge of television production includes strategic planning, budgeting, government relations and community relations. He was named PBS Development Professional of the Year in 1998 for his involvement and expertise in corporate development and fundraising. Brett has spearheaded WPT's digital conversion, and has helped guide, design, fund or implement various WPT national public television models, including Evolving the Links, Best Practices in Journalism, Portal Wisconsin, Wisconsin Stories and SafeNight USA. In 2008, he was elected for a three-year term to the PBS board of directors. For Immediate Release Contact: Anna Post [email protected] 802.655.8042 VPR and Vermont PBS Team Up For VPR – Vermont PBS Debates Public Media Collaboration to Engage Vermonters in 2018 Election Vermont Public Radio and Vermont PBS have announced the VPR – Vermont PBS Debates, a new collaboration to broadcast four live candidate debates leading up to the General Election on November 6. The debates will be moderated by Bob Kinzel, Peter Hirschfeld and Jane Lindholm on VPR’s program Vermont Edition and made available on broadcast by Vermont PBS. The stations began discussing potential partnerships last summer. After successful collaboration on the VPR News Minute and the VPR – Vermont PBS Poll released in advance of the primaries in August, they decided to expand their partnership to include four general election debates. “Together with VPR, we bring our audiences a depth of understanding of the issues and candidates that they can take with them to the polls,” stated Holly Groschner, President and CEO of Vermont PBS. “It’s more important than ever this election season that public media advance civil discourse, and the VPR - Vermont PBS Debates do just that.” "It's important that voters statewide have the opportunity to draw clear distinctions between candidates and to have those distinctions illuminated by experienced journalists," said John Van Hoesen, VPR’s Senior Vice President and Chief Content Officer.
