Hello, yes you, Hello. So how are you? I ask because over the last month I have seen and heard a lot of different emotions, feelings and behaviour, all very personal, real and to the individual, theirs. To those of you reading this and feeling a little lost, please don't feel you are alone. I have been through a lot in my years and I am not afraid to tell you, suicidal at times, but for what ever reason I am still here. What I had to do was reach out and I had to do this myself. As with going for a walk, it starts with the first step, admitting there is something, talk to someone and then take the next step. My words will be received differently by each individual that reads these words. What I pray they do is uplift and encourage individuals, and if it helps just one person then my work is done! If it gives you something to talk about then good. Enjoy folks. I'm only here till April 2014...what will I write next time?

Wasp nests provide a home for some of our most beautiful, pollinating hoverflies. How many species of wasp are there? It disappeared men split into six segments, one black/yellow stripe on each, the Common wasp is behind my very large fridge and would not come out. I could not bare the very similar to the German wasp (Vespula germanica). The key difference is that Common wasps lack the three black dots on the head and distinct black dots on the thought of it starving to death behind my fridge so...much huffing and puffing back as they merge with the back stripes. Wasps are magnificent architects In late saw me pull out the little fridge and squeeze myself behind to see it covered in spring, quite large wasps are seen. These are queens who are looking for suitable nest cobwebs, down on the grills. What must have been about 20 minutes, it still sites. These can be deserted mammal holes, cracks in walls or holes in trees. The nests would not fly high enough to go above the fridge and go out into the open. So are made from chewed up wood and wasp saliva which creates a paper-like material. I gently persuaded it to remove itself into the corner and rest on the floor, Wasps are social animals A queen will begin by building a cylindrical column where squeezing myself between shelves, I managed to place one of my light known as a petiole which is covered by a chemical produced by the queen which re- weight dishcloths over it. Why are wasps after my picnic? Towards the end of September the nests are at maximum capacity, with lots of adults and few larvae. This means that there will be lots of wasps visible but also affects what food they look for. While the adults feed on nectar the larvae are fed on insects. HOME When feeding larvae, adults obtain a small, sugar rich droplet of liquid from the young. With fewer larvae the adults don’t need to look for as much protein but do need more sugars and carbohydrates. It is because of this need for carbohydrates that IMPROVEMENTS jt wasps might go for your crisps rather than your jam this month. Why do wasps sting? Wasps have a sting to allow them to capture and immobilise their prey (such as KITCHENS • BATHROOMS • aphids, caterpillars, flies and spiders). They may also sting to defend their nest. The little church of St Nicholas, whose doors have been open throughout the sum- mer have welcomed visitors hands, turning the handle to step inside and view. May- be sitting for a while to contemplate life as it is, as it might be, or how it could be. Signing the visitors book, dropping a coin or two into the collection pot and walking out through the arch, to what has been a wonderful summer, with butterflies acrobat- ically dancing in the air, bees busy buzzing and flowers displaying their enticing beauty. The footpaths around Tresmeer have been attended to which include improved signs, making safe certain areas and general works. All routes clear and so now all can walk in our beautiful countryside, enjoying fresh air and time for reflection. The Agricultural Show brought together so many people , the weather was a real blessing as without it, it could have been so different. Once again the people of Tresmeer came together, working tirelessly for 6 months , the foundation well and truly laid and giving it the strength to be built upon. The swallows left a while ago and now the last of the House Martins, at the start of evening, with their young strengthening their wings, catch, upon the wing, insects, filling up on fuel, in preparation for the off… Hedge trimmers now at work as seeds have fallen and birds have nested and flown, (sorry about the blackberries) and roads once again enlarged although ever vigilant your eye must be on roads as walking persons, reversing cars or very wide loads! The night pulling in as darkness spreads and encases the world, drawing curtains as the creeping of Autumn knocks at the door. School uniforms bought, haircuts, new shoes and bags, as children, grown, gather to catch the bus with conversations abundant as friends meet again after weeks apart. Timetables once again press in on relaxed life of parents. People have come, people have gone, new neighbours, end of an era as generational property sold and we look back and reminisce on what was. The rain will come and the leaves will fall, the world moves around and a price can- not be given on what is free.

PAGE 26 PAGE 23 Psychology 101 If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water. After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result ... all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold wa- ter. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it. Now, put the cold water away. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the oth- er monkeys beat the heck out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted. Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment...... with enthusiasm, because he is now part of the "team". Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by the fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked. Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey. Finally, having re- placed all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have POULTRY & PONY SALE ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana. Why, you ask? Because in Saturday 21st September their minds...that is the way it has always been!
