Chcel si sa iba podeliť o dejepisné znalosti, alebo ťa len nebavil ten textový stereotyp slovenského rapu, ktorý prevláda poslednú dobu? Nápad na tématický album išiel vlastne ruku v ruke s nápadom spraviť celé album s Lkamom. Keď sme sa dohodli, že dáme spolu tento projekt, vedel som, že nechcem písať svoje klasické sólo album. Chcel som ukázať, že rap má takú silnú výpovednú hodnotu, že je možné rapovať očomkoľvek - keď to dokážeš patrične vystihnúť. Lkama: Začal som tak asi 8 rokov dozadu keď som prišiel do Anglicka za prácou, kúpil som si gramce, zostavil nové PC, kúpil klávesy Axiom, ktoré mám dodnes a pomaly som sa začal učiť narábať s Reasonom, robenie beatov som nebral nejak vážne až keď som sa vrátil na Slovensko. Contact: [email protected] Choutouts: Language contact and US-Latin hip hop on YouTube Matt Garley This paper presents a corpus-sociolinguistic analysis of lyrics and com- ments from videos for four US-Latinx hip hop songs on YouTube. A ‘post-varieties’ (Seargeant and Tagg 2011) analysis of the diversity and hybridity of linguistic production in the YouTube comments finds the notions of codemeshing and plurilingualism (Canagarajah 2009) useful in characterizing the language practices of the Chicanx community of the Southwestern US, while a focus on the linguistic practices of com- menters on Northeastern ‘core’ artists’ tracks validate the use of named language varieties in examining language attitudes and ideologies as they emerge in commenters’ discussions. Finally, this article advances the sociolinguistics of orthography (Sebba 2007) by examining the social meanings of a vast array of creative and novel orthographic forms, which often blur the supposed lines between language varieties. Keywords: Latinx, hip hop, orthography, codemeshing, language contact, language attitudes, language ideologies, computer-mediated discourse. SEPTEMBER 2018 Everlast var engang bedst kendt som frontmand i rap-gruppen House of Pain, som udgav kæmpehittet ”Jump Around” i 1992. Efter at House of Pain var gået i opløsning, genopfandt Everlast for alvor sig selv som soloartist i 1998 med udgivelsen af ’Whitey Ford Sings the Blues’. Albummet, som hovedsageligt var akustisk kombineret med elementer fra hip-hop, solgte platin og Top 40 singlen ”What It’s Like” fik stor succes. Efter at have været med på Santana’s comeback-album ’Supernatural’ på sangen ’Put Your Lights On’, begyndte Everlast at arbejde på sit næste album ’Eat at Whitey’s’, som udkom i 2000. I 2004 udgav han det mere moody og country-inspirerede album ’White Trash Beautiful’, hvorefter Everlast- projektet blev sat på standby. Everlast gjorde igen comeback i 2008 med hip- hop supergruppen La Coka Nostra, som bestod af de oprindelige House of Pain-medlemmer, samt endnu en Everlast-plade ved navn ’Love, War, and The Ghost of Whitey Ford’.
