ALL PARISHIONERS ARE INVITED! COME PRAY WITH US! Eucharistic Adoration is one way to prepare for Lent. Here are a few thoughts of those who currently spend an hour with the Blessed Sacrament. *This is my special time alone with God. It’s a very power- ful feeling that He is there with you. *This is where I find an hour of peace with God. This is where I feel the presence of God in my life and this gives me a sense of peace. *I cherish the opportunity to spend quiet time with Jesus. Come sit in the presence of God and experience His love for you. Any hour from 8:30 Monday morning through 8:00 Tuesday morning.

OUR FRIENDS THE St. Heribert of —-St. Heribert, also known as St. Herbert, was born around 970 in Worms, Germany, the son of Duke Hugo. Though Heribert wanted to become a Benedictine monk, his father did not approve, so Heribert did not pursue that path. He studied at the , served there as provost and was ordained to the priesthood in 994. Emperor Otto III appointed Heribert as the Chancellor for Italy in 994 and as the Chancellor for Germany in 997. He was in Italy with the Emperor when word reached him that he had been chosen and after receiving investiture by Pope Sylvester II on July 9, 999, was consecrated Archbishop in Cologne on the following . Heribert was present at the death of Otto III. At first he did not have a good relationship with the new Emperor, St. Henry II, but eventually they became friends. Although he did not become a monk, Heribert developed a deep spiritual life, and served the people of his diocese tirelessly. From his own personal income he gave generously to the poor and sent money to the of Cologne to help those in need. He helped the sick in their homes and in hospitals. Heribert was regarded as a even before his death. There is an account of a time of great drought in that area of Germany and the crops were in danger of failure. Heribert is said to have led a procession through the streets of the city and, arriving at the Church of St. Severinus, knelt in prayer. When he arose from prayer a torrential rain poured down, thus saving the harvest. He is now regarded as the saint against drought. While traveling in his diocese in 1021, Heribert became ill with a fever and was taken back to Cologne where he died a few days later on March 16. He was canonized by Pope St. Gregory VII in 1075. His memorial is March 16.
