No. of email enquireies yearly >4500 2 Basic information 3 Background • In 90s – massive increase of car ownership and usage, congestion problems in Brno and region. Decline of PT usage from 80 to 50%. • No big problems with financing of city or regional PT. • A lot of private regional bus operators, in Brno only one city-owned operator. • Relatively high quality of city PT, poor quality of regional bus PT. • Reorganization of PT in Brno in 1995. • Big differences in financing of PT in Brno and regional PT. • Lack of the integration of regional bus transport. Trains and city PT still under state / city control. • Municipalities – weak power in the organizing and financing of the regional public transport. 4 Establishing of IDS JMK • 90s – several attempts to organize IPT. Success in Prague and Ostrava not in Brno. • 2001 – Southern Moravia Region established. Right to organize and pay for regional buses and trains. Who pays that decides. • 2002 – KORDIS JMK established. Organizing authority of IDS JMK. • It is responsible for: • network and timetable planning • fare setting • system direct managing • information service for passengers • marketing and promotion • revenues allocation • EU funded development projects managing • 2004 – Launching of IDS JMK • 2010 – IDS JMK in all the region. 5 Basic Principles of IDS JMK • Economic optimization. • Integration of all public transport modes. • Increase usage via the systematic improvement in public transport. • Common network and tariff system, transport conditions, information and marketing system. • Standards of public transport: 6 connections at working days, 3 at weekends for every municipality. • Quality standards. Interval timetable. • Tendering of all regional lines. • New connections at weekends and evenings. 6 Basic organizational principles of IDS JMK • Railway – the backbone of the system, feeder bus lines. • IDS JMK based on the system of interchanges and connecting departures. • Revenues are allocated by the KORDIS – organizing authority. • Bus operators – gross costs contracts, more operators on 1 line. • Trains and Brno PT – net costs contracts. • Tarif based on zones, every zone size about 7 km. • Big discounts on seasonal ticket. • Control center for or transport modes 7 Statistics of amounts of passengers (mil. personkms) In last years regular increase of the usage. 8 Statistics of revenues in regional transport (mil. Evaluation of the actual situation of IDS JMK in Brno a) Sociological research of the customer satisfaction; b) Standards of public transport service; c) Situation from the supply / demand point of view; d) Development of city public transport in connection to IDS JMK; e) The city districts demands solution; f) Optimization of the transport. Annexes a) Conclusions of the actual situation; b) The documentation for contract between Brno and Brno Public Transport Company (DPMB) and for timetable preparation. 18 Standards of public transport service For evaluation of the quality homogenization in different parts of the city it is necessary to set up guaranteed standards, which ensure that bad public transport will not be the reason for resettlement and devastating of some areas or quarters. Standards serve as indicators which will provide the information for city government if the public transport in the specific locality is in the similar situation in comparison to other city parts. 19 Timetable setting All public transport modes cooperate in the IDS JMK. They establish coordinated public transport offer based on synchronized timetables enabling quick and easy interchanges.
