Craig Carnahan that VocalEssence Swing Low, Sweet Chariot arr. Tesfa Wondemagegnehu continues to enrich our communities as we celebrate the VocalEssence Chorus, contributions of Patrick Henry High School Concert Choir, African Americans and Talented Tenth Apprentices to our shared American heritage through concerts, recordings and a Keep Your Lamps arr. André J. Thomas comprehensive educational program. We are very excited to have Melanie — Presentation of Reatha Clark King Award — DeMore’s high energy, teaching us about the Gullah culture through their Patrick Henry High School Concert Choir music and unique stick pounding. As a Patrick Henry High School Concert Choir man who devoted his life to promoting Free, Free, Free Melanie DeMore democracy and equality, he leaves behind a legacy of peaceful change.
