The second generation of Panther was also produced and sold in India under the name Chevrolet Tavera, a name that was also used in Indonesia for the petrol version until 2007. It was developed in conjunction with General Motors as a 160 project. The model is suitable for carrying large loads of passengers or cargo. It was designed in accordance with local conditions in terms of climate, roads and family structure as a durable vehicle. Panther is also popular in the Philippines as Hi-Lander, later Crosswind.
