Definition of “Heavy Horse” The Executive Committee of the St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days Inc. wishes to remind all those considering being a competitor for the field days – the rules of entry are as follows:- Regardless of what may have transpired in past years, the Rule Book clearly States “Only heavy horses can compete”. This is in line with the name of our Field Days, which states for the showing and working of heavy horses of all breeds, i.e., Clydesdales, Shires, Percherons and Draught Horses. All horses competing at the SHHHFD’s (other than those registered as purebred with the accepted Heavy Horse Breed Societies) are required to conform to the true description of a “draught horse” namely, it must be of heavy type, heavy boned, deep ribbed and a horse in height, as least 15hh at maturity with the characteristics of a classic heavy horse.
