A product placement is the inclusion of a product, package, signage, a brand name or the name of the firm in a movie or in a television programme for increasing memorability of the brand and instant recognition at the point of purchase. Placements can be in form of verbal mentions in dialogue, actual use by character, visual displays such as corporate logo on a vehicle or billboard, brands used as set decorations, or even snatches of actual radio or television commercials. This is a growing trend in Indian films for various reasons. This paper highlights the basic reasons for placing products and brands in films with special reference to hindi films and the effectiveness of these placements as a tool for enhancing the recall value of the brands in the long run. The paper proposes a category of placements that can be used by brand marketers to put their brands in the films and identifies the caveat for putting the brands in the films. This paper suggests about the modality and plot connections in bringing congruity in the presentation so that the brand placement does not look out of context.

The ‘able-ist’ worldview holds that disability is an error, a mistake, or a failing, rather than a simple consequence of human diversity. So, the term ‘disability’ doesn’t only stand for physical or psychological impairment. This rightfully can be used to refer to the disabling barriers of prejudice, discrimination and social exclusion of the impaired person. It is actually a socially constructed form based upon physiological reality, which acts as the attribute of the socio-cultural and other forms of oppressions leading the way toward discrimination and absolute elimination from the ‘pathologized’ course of the society. The process of pathological normalization of body gives assurance to decrease the attributes of non-compliance and hence affirms the possibilities of social conformity. So, being no more a medical construct, disability is rather treated as the conditioning of the people created by the society and ruling ideology in which they are unable to conform to the major needs and the desires propagated by the media and the other ruling institutions.

The percentage of women film makers, in the industry, is a mere 9.1%. Despite this, the films directed by women have compelled audiences to take notice, because of the wide spectrum of issues they have touched upon. Three women directors, whose movies have left an indelible mark on the audiences, include Tanuja Chandra, Meghna Gulzar and Gauri Shinde. This paper analyses the work of these three women directors, for the uniqueness of their themes and the characters they have sketched, and attempts to find out, what has led to their films being etched deeply, into the consciousness of their audience. Prof. (English) KG Arts & Science College Raigarh, Chhatisgarh India Abstract Thanks to our drama professor who initiated us to the sheer joy of reading the high flown language and acting in Shakespeare‟s plays that eventually left us spellbound for life. Watching Shakespeare‟s plays in theatre for the yester year English educated Indians has been a hobby. This infatuation with the greatest dramatist has led some Film directors to experiment on the themes of comedies and tragedies. In recent years, director Vishal Bhardwaj holds the credit of adapting themes of his great tragedies to contemporary situation and work wonder through his experimentation. Maqbool is a 2003 Indian crime drama, an adaptation of the play Macbeth. The film had its North American premiere at the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival and was screened in the Marché du Film section of the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Bhardwaj then moved on to adapt Othello in his 2006 film Omkara which won him commercial as well as critical success and Francis Ford Coppola's attention. Haider is the third installment of Bhardwaj's Shakespearean trilogy. The film is a modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet, set amidst the insurgency-hit Kashmir during conflicts of 1995 and civilian disappearances.     In remembrance of Om Puri and Kundan Shah, the Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival with Star go down memory lane of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron Ranjit Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sudhir Mishra in conversation with Victor Acharya Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro screening held at PVR ECX Mumbai, 15th October: Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro is a cult comedy film which released in 1983. It is one of Kundan Shah’s notable works. MAMI brings alive the magic of Kundan Shah’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro in an interactive session with the team of the film. A screening of the same was hosted at PVR ECX which was followed by a Q&A where the panel comprised of Satish Kaushik, Ranjit Kapoor, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sudhir Mishra which was curated by Victor Acharya. The cast shared few sneak peeks and behind the scene stories of the process that went on to become one of the most celebrated films of the industry. Kundan Shah studied direction at FTII in Pune. He is the recipient of the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director for Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and also the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Om Puri was a Padma Shri recipient. He was an actor who appeared equally in mainstream and independent art films. Puri was an alumni of the National School of Drama where he pursued theatre. He took up further studies in FTII. He has won the National Award, Filmfare Award and many more to his credit.
