2011-12 menu of HE activities for Aimhigher target schools and colleges

This document briefly outlines the plans local universities are working on for outreach activities in 2011-12, after Aimhigher ends. Schools and colleges who wish to be informed of the final details, dates and procedure for registering for events and activities are asked to ensure that they have logged their details with their Aimhigher borough coordinator or with the Aimhigher Greater coordination unit (see website www.aimhighergreatermanchester.co.uk). Aimhigher will pass a list of all school and college contacts to the universities.

Outreach and aspiration-raising opportunities from September 2011 to July 2012 at Universities

The programme works with an identified cohort of WP learners who have been championed by their College as having the potential to succeed in HE, providing support over the course of their level 3 studies. The programme offers aspiration and attainment raising activity, including a residential experience on campus, as well as a specially developed, ASDAN accredited ‘preparation for HE module’ designed to support transition to HE and retention and success thereafter. This module provides the learners with 40 UCAS tariff points towards their application to the University of Salford.
