Borneo is one of only two places in the world where endangered orangutans can still be seen in the wild. This morning you’ll embark on a special wildlife experience as we try to spot rescued orangutans at the Semenggoh Wildlife Conservation Centre. It’s home to some 30 orangutans. These clever creatures have been rescued, rehabilitated and released into the surrounding 740-hectare forest reserve. They still swing by the centre for a feed, where you have a good chance of seeing them. Then we’ll head to Annah Rais Longhouse, a Bidayuh settlement. The Bidayuh make up about 8% of Sarawak’s population. With your guide, you’ll explore the longhouse and get a feel for this indigenous tribe’s slow-paced lifestyle in the traditional village. There are many interesting relics here, like the Canon of Peace and several human skulls that are about 100 years old. You’ll enjoy a local home-cooked lunch here before returning to Kuching. The afternoon is free for you before dinner at a nearby restaurant. DAY 5 Destination Kuching Mulu National Park Meals included Breakfast Hotel 4 Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa, or similar After breakfast, you’ll check out and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mulu. Famous for its dramatic peaks and magnificent cave system, it’s a natural wonder of stunning landscapes and ecological biodiversity, ripe for exploration. Mulu boasts some of the largest caves in the world. Upon arrival, we’ll head for Mulu National Park headquarters. Stretch your legs on a 3km plank walk to Deer Cave and Lang Cave. The beautifully lit cave formations and the mass exodus of bats from Deer Cave (this usually occurs during fine weather) is an astounding sight. NIGHT WALK IN MULU Enjoy a 2 hour night walk. Mulu is a rich habitat for thousands of nocturnal species which prefer the darkness of night to protect them from predators. Although the forest is an orchestra of sounds at night, the visitor must move quietly to catch Mulu’s weird and wonderful creatures in the lights.
