In the introduction inevitability of the moderni.ation process of crucial weapon systems was emphasi.ed. Furthermore, the concept of weapon system, life cycle of the weapon system and moderni.ation of weapon systems where presented. A general description of a model of the process of creating the plan of technical moderni.ation of the 1olish armed forces was also presented. The main part of the article presents the areas of logistics that should be newly tailored to the needs of the moderni.ed weapon system. These basic areas includeA processes of operation and maintenance, material and technical supplies, staff ac,uisition, availability of service devices, creation of databases, organi.ation of trainings, computeri.ation, logistics infrastructure, dedicated transport means. Cílem práce je komplexní zpracování této tematiky a nástin možných budoucích perspektiv spolupráce z toho vyplývajících. Teoretická část práce představuje klíčové pojmy zbrojního průmyslu za účelem pochopení podstaty zkoumané problematiky. Na základě analýzy dosavadní zbrojně-průmyslové spolupráce na úrovni organizací V4, NATO a EU a posléze komparace zemí V4 dle definovaných indikátorů ve stanoveném časovém horizontu 2006–2016 jsou přiblíženy oblasti možné spolupráce v letech nadcházejících. Klíčová slova: Armáda, Česká republika, Maďarsko, obranný průmysl, Polsko, Slovensko, V4, zbrojní průmysl ABSTRACT Diploma thesis deals with arms industry of Visegrad Group with the main emphasis on the years 2006–2016. The goal of this work is complex processing of this theme and outline of possible future perspectives of cooperation. Theoretical part presents key concepts of arms industry for the purpose of understanding substance of researching issues. On the basis of analysis of existing arms industrial cooperation on the Visegrad Group, NATO and EU level and subsequent comparison of Visegrad Group countries on the basis of defined indicators in time horizon 2006–2016, areas of possible cooperation in the upcoming years are clarified. -

The more I researched through books, correspondence, and through direct questions to several “Old & Bold” on Regimental Association Forums, the more I became determined to fill in this gap. The results are what you see in the following pages. Before I begin a list of acknowledgements let me recognize my two co-authors, for this is as much their work as well as mine. “PM” was instrumental in sharing his research on the support Corps, did countless hours of legwork, and never failed to dig up information on some of my arcane questions. “John” made me “THINK” British Army! He has been an inspiration; a large part of this work would have not been possible without him. He added the maps and the color formation signs, as well as reformatting the whole document. The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow body of water that separates the Persian Gulf from the Gulf of Oman, through which 20% of the world’s oil passes annually. The UAE, seven emirates that work under a federalist structure, also is an important hydrocarbon producer in its own right with the world’s seventh largest known oil reserves and the eleventh largest known natural gas fields. The UAE allows both the U.S. and France to operate military bases in the country from where the two countries support their military activities in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the Middle East. Political Seven former members of what was known in the 19th century as the Trucial or Pirate Coast currently comprise the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In order of size, the emirates are: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm al Qaywayn, Ajman, Al Fajayrah, and Ras al Khaymah. Ras al Khaymah joined the UAE in February 1972 after the other six states agreed on a federal constitution the year before. The UAE, with its capital in Abu Dhabi, is a federation with specified powers delegated to the central government and all other powers reserved to the emirates. Due to the prosperity of the country, most of its inhabitants are content with the current political system. -
