Since Phase 2, Greece has introduced an express denial of tax deductibility of bribes. Greece has also taken numerous initiatives to raise the level of awareness of the foreign bribery offences and of the OECD Convention either through public measures or private activities. 2. In particular, the Export Credit Insurance Organisation includes the foreign bribery offence in its presentations as a matter of course. The market authorities, including the Hellenic Capital Markets Commission and the Athens Exchange, have undertaken initiatives on corruption, including foreign bribery. Awareness initiatives have also been undertaken within the Ministries of Finance and Economy, Justice, and the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralisation, and among tax officials. The Hellenic Banks Association in conjunction with all major commercial banks have organised meetings and seminars on the detection of corrupt practices, including money laundering and foreign bribery. However, the Working Group notes that no concrete action has been undertaken by the Hellenic Aid to further raise awareness of the Convention and the foreign bribery offence for its staff. -

Messerschmitt Me 262 The Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe / Sturmvogel (English: "Swallow"/ "Storm Bird") of Nazi Germany was the world's first operational jet- powered fighter aircraft. Design work started before World War II began, but engine problems and top-level interference kept the aircraft from operational status with the Luftwaffe until mid-1944. Heavily armed, it was faster than any Allied fighter, including the British jet-powered Gloster Meteor.One of the most advanced aviation designs in operational use during World War II,the Me 262 was used in a variety of roles, including light bomber, reconnaissance, and even experimental night fighter versions. Me 262 pilots claimed a total of 542 Allied kills, although higher claims are sometimes made. The Allies countered its potential effectiveness in the air by attacking the aircraft on the ground and during takeoff and landing. Engine reliability problems, from the pioneering nature of its Junkers Jumo 004 axial- flow turbojetengines—the first ever placed in mass production—and attacks by Allied forces on fuel supplies during the deteriorating late-war situation also reduced the effectiveness of the aircraft as a fighting force. In the end, the Me 262 had a negligible impact on the course of the war as a result of its late introduction and the consequently small numbers put in operational service. While German use of the aircraft ended with the close of the Second World War, a small number were operated by the Czechoslovak Air Force until 1951. Captured Me 262s were studied and flight tested by the major powers, and ultimately influenced the designs of a number of post-war aircraft such as the North American F-86 Sabreand Boeing B-47 Stratojet. -

It was founded in 1986 as an innovative program that brought together military specialists and civilian academics to focus on military and security topics derived from unclassified, foreign media. Today FMSO maintains this research tradition of special insight and highly collaborative work by conducting unclassified research on foreign perspectives of defense and security issues that are understudied or unconsidered. Author Background Zhulduz Baizakova is a graduate from Kazakh National University and has a MSc degree in International Security and Global Governance, Birkbeck College, University of London, where she successfully defended her dissertation on NATO peacekeeping activities.
