ABOUT THE ROLE Are you passionate about caring for ’s future? Are you interested in community organising? We are looking for organisers – people who can build a team to support our Greens candidates. You will be a real people person, prepared to have meaningful and persuasive conversations with Tasmanian voters during the Greens federal election campaign. You will be implementing four key elements of our election campaign at a local level; (a) volunteer recruitment and care, (b) voter contact coordination, (c) leadership development, and (d) training. This isn’t your average job: you’ll often work weekends and evenings instead of weekdays, and you’ll need to be self-motivated and flexible – but you’ll meet amazing Greens members from all walks of life, and make a real difference to growing the political party that stands up for what matters. If you enjoy working with people and are passionate about building a progressive Australia, you’ll love this job. The role is focused on achieving our federal election goals by implementing our federal election strategy and operational plan. This election presents a huge opportunity for the Greens. You’ll be working on the ground reaching out to voters, galvanising our volunteers to send a powerful message about community values and articulating a future that will dramatically transform politics.

These roles are crucial for determining Tasmania’s future, and the Greens have always relied on volunteers and staff to create our vision of social and environmental justice. The Greens only narrowly held onto Nick McKim’s senate seat by 141 votes in the last election to One Nation and community organising is key to retaining the seat.

ABOUT THE TASMANIAN GREENS The Tasmanian Greens are a political party based on principles of Ecology, Social Justice, Grassroots Democracy and Peace. We are part of the Australian Greens and the global Green movement. The Greens started in Tasmania and forged Tasmania’s clean, green image. We are working towards the upcoming federal election which must be held by 18 May 2019. Currently, we have two Senators for Tasmania, Nick McKim and Peter Whish-Wilson. Senator Nick McKim is up for re-election, along with Senate support candidates and candidates for the House of Representatives. The Greens have a proud history of standing up for what is right, not just what is easy or what polls well. Over the course of the last four decades, the Greens have become the third force in Australian politics. Across Australia there are currently Greens representing you at every level of government. The Greens are much more than an environmental party. We promote meaningful and common-sense solutions to ensure future generations of Australians have clean air, water and healthy soil. The Greens are also working in many other areas to champion integrity, decency and fairness. As well as representing constituents, the Greens speak on behalf of those who wouldn’t otherwise get much of a say inside parliament: children, refugees, students, individuals and families living in poverty and, of course, our natural environment.
