The shelter is looking for foster homes for the puppies. new budget of starvation By KATIE MINTZ The Daily Journal The newly enacted state budget for the 2006-2007 fiscal year, applauded by many for being the first in six years to be signed by the governor before its effective date, has some good things in store for Mendocino County, accord- ing to Sen. Wes Chesbro, First District representative and chairman of the Budget and Fiscal Review Committee. Chesbro, serving in his fourth and last year as chairman of the committee, is pleased with the budget. “I’m going out on a positive note because the economy has recovered to a point where we can begin to restore programs,” Chesbro said. He noted that the previous three years had been some of the “most difficult times the state government has faced.” With an unexpected $7.5 billion from tax revenues and the state’s spending deficit at a low $3.3 billion compared to what it was four years ago, Chesbro said the state has made substantial progress. “If the economy and state continue to improve, I’m optimistic the structur- al deficit will be completely eliminat- ed,” he said. The budget included $4.9 billion to pay down debt and build up the state’s reserves. He cautioned, however, that

DIRECTIONS: A. Using each "Chaos Grid" number with its letter one time, arrange the numbers with their letters for the "Order Grid" so each vertical column, horizontal row, and two diagonals each ADD to numbers inside thick lined cells. B. Some correct numbers with their letters have been put into the "Order Grid" to get you started. Also, above the "Order Grid" is a "Decoded Message" clue. C. After you have solved the "Order Grid" doing as direction "A" says, put the let- ters from horizontal rows, from left to right, under "Decoded Message" and make words to form the answer.
