In 1902 it became a four-year high school. The high school split in 1963 to form Fairmont West and Fairmont East. Each high school had sophomores, juniors and seniors. Fairmont East did not have a senior class in 1963-64. The two schools were united in 1983-84. Fairmont began with sophomores, juniors and seniors, adding freshmen in 1995. This year there are about 2,400 students attending Kettering Fairmont High School. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize individuals who have made “significant athletic contributions” to all Fairmont High Schools and assist the Administration in perpetuating the spirit of pride and loyalty which is the heritage of Fairmont institutions. There are two categories for consideration: Athletes and Specials. Athletes must have graduated from one of the four Fairmont High Schools, lettered in at least one sport for two years or two+ sports for one year. They may not be considered until 10 years after graduation. Special (Coaches, Administrators, Boosters, etc.) must have served Kettering Schools for at least 5 years and have been retired from their position for at least 5 years. The volunteer selection committee makes nominations and considers those received from alumni and the community. Members can nominate anyone from any era. Once a candi- date is nominated, his/her name cannot be removed from the list unless subsequent re- search discovers they do not meet the criteria. The committee sets no quotas by sex, sport, school or era. Members are expected to be unbiased and fair minded. Also, the committee is sworn to strict confidentiality of all discussions resulting from this process so as to protect the candidates and maintain the highest standard of integrity. The Hall of Fame Committee accepts nominations at anytime. Nominators provide as much detail as possible as to why they believe the candidate is worthy of induction. Nomination does not assure induction, only consideration for induction. All nominations are archived and discussed with diligence. It is also recognized that a process such as this is not perfect. Given the number of schools, years and candidates; it is possible a wor- thy candidate could be overlooked. This is why community and alumni nominations are highly encouraged. The Fairmont Athletic Hall of Fame could not have become a reality without the help of so many. Please join us in special appreciation and recognition of those who have selflessly devoted their time, financial resources and energy in making this dream come true. Source: The Association of American Law Schools 2010-2011 Directory of Law Teachers 3-256, 1875-87, 1889-92 (2010) (sections titled “Law Teachers by School at Member Schools,” “List II – Minority Law Teachers,” and “List III – Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Community Law Teachers”). According to the AALS Directory, 42 of the 171 listed law schools are led by female deans, one school is led by a member of a minority, and two schools are led by members of the gay/lesbian/ bisexual/transsexual community. In our experience, the AALS Directory is based at least in large part on self-reported and home-institution-reported data. _________________________________________________________________ The Journal of Legal Metrics operates on the same terms as the Journal of Law.
