ACTION PLAN Introduction This document identifies Midtown’s goals, implementation strategies and specific action items that will ensure a rich diversity of land uses, vibrant street-level activity, quality building design, multimodal transportation accessibility and mobility, and engaging public spaces. Blueprint Midtown 3.0 is the most recent evolution of Midtown Alliance’s community driven plan that builds on Midtown’s fundamental strengths and makes strategic improvements to move the District from great to exceptional. It identifies both high priority projects that will be advanced in the next 10 years, as well as longer-term projects and initiatives that may take decades to achieve but require exploration now. Since 1997, policies laid out in Blueprint Midtown have guided public and private investment to create a clean, safe, and vibrant urban environment. The original plan established a community vision for Midtown that largely remains the same: a livable, walkable district in the heart of Atlanta; a place where people, business and culture converge to create a live-work-play community with a distinctive personality and a premium quality of life. Blueprint Midtown 3.0 builds on recent successes, incorporates previously completed studies and corridor plans, draws inspiration from other places and refines site-specific recommendations to reflect the changes that have occurred in the community since the original unveiling of Blueprint Midtown.     MIDTOWN HAS MOMENTUM MID 2009-2010 Midtown Improvement District 2009-2010 Annual Report MIDTOWN ATLANTA Enter First impressions are important. So are re- newed connections. With that in mind, Midtown Alliance partnered with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to redesign the 14th Street Bridge. The result? An inviting green gateway into Midtown, and a user-friendly new link between parts of town long divided by the Interstate. Welcome in! Widened and lengthened, the bridge now features dedicated turning lanes, landscaped medians and broad sidewalks shielded from the visual and aural noise of the highway by attrac- tive screens. GDOT planted annuals on the three medians and this summer Midtown Improvement District assumed responsibility for maintaining the new landscaping. The rebuilt 14th Street Bridge is safer and more efficient for both drivers and pedestrians, and a major step toward real- izing the Blueprint Midtown vision. Flourish Every day. Sweeping sidewalks. Emptying trash cans. Collecting litter. Maintaining plantings and pocket parks. Repainting street furniture. Every day, Midtown Green is at work to keep our com- munity’s public spaces spotless and appealing. Details make the difference. The 15th Street Arts District Plaza, built in 2007 with the financial backing of the MID and the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, is an oasis of urbanity because every day the Green team cleans the fountain and feeds the fish, pulls weeds and deadheads blossoms, wipes tables, tosses trash, and ensures that Wi-Fi is working. District Plaza offers Midtown Green collaborates with the city’s outdoor seating and Department of Sanitation to keep 125 trash recep- free Wi-Fi tacles regularly emptied.
