Part 5, American Oversight makes the following request for records. The deaths of people held in the custody of DHS components have become an issue of significant public concern. On December 5, 2018, Senators Harris, Henrich and Udall sent a letter to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) calling for the release of information and reports regarding the death of Roxsana Hernandez, a transgender detainee who died while in ICE custody, shortly following her detention by CBP.1 ]This letter followed reports that transgender and pregnant detainees have not been provided with adequate medical attention while detained.
