Step 1: Drill Holes Refer to Chart # 1 for the standard measurement of where the Oar Socket is placed on the gunwales. Chart # 1 is for reference only. You can use the measurements in the chart that match the model of boat you have or you can position the Oar Socket at any measurement to suite your style and comfort level. Make a mark on the gunwale with a marking pencil. Repeat on the other side of the boat ensuring the measurements are equal on both sides.

Model From Stern 15’ Square Stern 72” 14’ Osprey 68” 15’ Osprey 76” Chart 1 Place the Oar Socket on the gunwale so the hole for the Oarlock is outboard the canoe, and the socket is centered on your mark. See Fig. #1.

Place the 5” L – shaped support piece on the underside of the rail as shown in Fig. #2 and clamp the pieces in place. Drill the holes (4 per socket) through the rail and support piece with a 3/16” drill bit using the socket as a guide.

Fig. #2 Step 2: Attach pieces to Canoe Insert two 1 3/4 bolts down through the top holes in the oar socket, gunwale, and L – support as shown. Place washers on the bolts and secure with lock nuts. Tighten lock nuts and add a Cap Nut to the end of the bolt. Fig. #3

Insert two 2 ½”” bolts down through the side holes in the oar socket, gunwale, and L – support as shown. Place washers on the bolts and secure with lock nuts. Tighten nuts. Fig. #3 repeat these steps on other side of the boat.
