Travel’s taste YOUR LUXURY TRAVEL PARTNER IN ITALY www.italycreative.it Amalfi Coast Amalfi More about: things to know Coast www.italycreative.it Deemed by Unesco to be an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, the Amalfi Coast is a beguiling combination of great beauty and gripping drama: coastal mountains plunge into the sea in a stunning vertical scene of precipitous crags, picturesque towns and lush forests. Most hotels and villas are open from March/April through October/November. The towns on the water with beaches include Amalfi, Atrani, Cetara, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Praiano, Positano, and Vietri sul Mare. Towns higher up on the cliffs include Agerola, Ravello, Scala, and Tramonti. Amalfi Coast is crossed by Strada Statale 163 Amalfitana (world-famous known as Amalfi Drive), a 50km (30 miles) stretch of road from north to south. If we take the two entrance points to the Amalfi Coast with Sorrento in the north and Salerno in the south, the road goes through the towns in this order: Positano | Praiano | Amalfi | Atrani | Minori | Maiori | Cetara | Vietri Sul Mare It's important to know the order as that would make exploring the towns a bit easier. The Sorrento to Salerno direction is more preferrable as, by being in the right lane, you are right next to the cliffs with no opposing traffic to block your view. There are no trains serving the Amalfi Coast. Where most boutique properties might only offer in-room massages, Monastero Santa Rosa hosts a fully equipped spa to rival any major city spa, offering not just treatment rooms, but large-scale amenities that include a sauna, steam, mosaic-tiled experience shower, hydro pool, and tepidarium. HOTELS selection Amalfi à RAVELLO Coast www.italycreative.it A former 11th century palace set on cliffs beside the Amalfi Coast, Belmond Hotel Caruso seems to drift on a ‘balcony’ above the Mediterranean Sea. It is a triumph of the restorer’s skill. Its ancient walls and fresco-covered ceilings have been carefully preserved to make it a work of art in itself. Stroll through the terraced gardens or lounge beside the stunning infinity pool. Take a boat trip to Positano or discover Roman Pompeii. Wherever you turn, both inside the hotel and out, a world of heritage, culture and beauty awaits. Set in the very best part of the hotel with unrivalled sea views, the Exclusive Suites offer complete decadence in picture-perfect Ravello. HOTELS selection Amalfi à AMALFI Coast www.italycreative.it A late 19th century liberty style villa immersed in the beautiful scenery of the Amalfi Coast, an elegant seaside residence surrounded by the perennial blue of the Mediterranean sea and sky, by luscious bougainvillea and by lovingly cultivated olive groves and fruit orchards. Hotel Santa Caterina of Amalfi is a special place to experience the finest of Italian hospitality and lasting sensations of wellbeing. Classic Italian interiors, quintessentially Mediterranean architecture and the style of the villas of Amalfi: all of Hotel Santa Caterina's rooms are spacious and filled with light, with floors in antique hand painted majolica, marble bathrooms with brass fixtures, and balconies with view over the sea of Amalfi or the garden. Amalfi HOTELS selection à ANACAPRI Coast www.italycreative.it The hotel, with its imposing arches, vaults and columns reminds the ancient Neapolitan palaces of the 18° Century, together with the white architectures typical of the Mediterranean sea. The hotel is owned by the family Cacace and Tonino Cacace is managing it with elegance and deep luxury knowledge. The design of the suites, some of them with private swimming pool, brings your mind back to the charm and glamour of the myths: Callas, Hepburn, Monroe. In the others, paintings and pictures are a tribute to the experimental art of the Great Masters of Modern Art: Kandisky, Mirò, Mondrian, Calder. Art has really a leading role at Capri Palace in the form of metaphysical mannequins, huge bronze helmets and Hellenic portraits. Magical sensations reflecting in the halls enlightened by thousands of candles where one can graze a De Chirico painting or caress the bronze helmet by Mimmo Paladno or the magnificent alto-rilieveo by Arnaldo Pomodoro and surrounded by the sea. Amalfi HOTELS selection à ANACAPRI Coast www.italycreative.it Dating back to the early 19th-century, Villa Le Scale was once home to the Barons Monti Della Corte, whose family represents the union of two noble lines. This Neoclassical-style building is one of the few original Caprian Villas of that era still intact. The present owner, a distinguished antiquarian and noted art collector, has painstakingly restored the villa with delicate workmanship and exquisite interior decoration. The original structure has been enriched with contemporary features, but the mansion still holds all the fabled charm of Capri. The six elegant suites, all with period furnishings, bear suggestive names from the world of art and travel: the Artist's Suite, the Collector's Suite, the Oriental, the Venetian, the Voyager and the Louis XVI. The en-suite bathrooms are spacious and, depending on the theme of their room, have either a Turkish bath, plunge pool, duplex shower or jacuzzi.
