TRUE ASTROLOGY TRUE ASTROLOGY "BASIC AND TRADITIONAL CONCEPTS" (Revised and Enlarged) SP. Khullar I.T.S. GM. Telecommunications (Rtd.) Acknowledgment First of all I feel greatly indebted to all the Astrologers of the era whose irresolute faith in the sacred knowledge of Astrology acted upon my psyche like Saturn on Mars in Capricorn; Moon on Jupiter in Cancer and Mars on Sun in Aries. In depth study of the theories of Nadi Literature enkindled in me the true love and devotion for Astrology. Mr. Saurabh Sagar of Sagar Publications provided me this literature. I owe my sincere thanks to him. I was inspired to dive deep into the ocean of this occult science of Astrology by my sons Mr. Manish and Mr. Mohit. I owe my gratitude to them. My beloved wife Mrs. Rashmi suffered the pangs of negligence due to my single-minded devotion to Astrology. I offer my apologies to her. I also owe my gratitude to some of my students and friends but for their motivation it would have not been possible to write this Book. Let me also thank Sagar Publications for bringing my Book "Basic and Traditional Concepts" in the simple, illustrative and beautiful format. I will fail in my duty if I don't express my gratitude to Mr. R.S. Chani for his valuable suggestions. S.P. Khullar I.T.S. Contents g Title Page No. No. Introduction ix Hindi Equivalent xi 1. It is in fact the dogmatic, rigid and ritualistic approach of the practitioners of astrology, which resulted in creating doubts in the minds of the people about its efficacy. Astrology, no doubt, will remain an enigma if the attitude of the traditional astrologers will continue to be rigid and their minds closed to the realities of life. We need to learn to discriminate. It is S.P. Khullar shocking to say that even the intellectual giants like Carl Jung, Sepharial, Alan Leo, Walter Gibson, William J.T. Tucker, C.E.O. Carter and H.S. Green who knew that "Whatever is born or done at this moment of time has the qualities of this moment of time", also showed as if they suffered from some sort of intellectual void during their approach to Astrology. A moment can't be defined as an hour or even a few minutes. How then the Rashi Chart or even the Navamsha Chart (as studied and analysed by Vedic Astrologers) can delineate the nativity of a person. Neither the planetary positions nor the aspects, nor the yogas change; and even the varga charts may remain the same. And the less we say, the better it is, about the Western Astrology which primarily depends upon the theory of Aspects and Progression. No two human beings are alike in the universe. Each horoscope, therefore, has to be unique. Our ancient seers used to construct and analyse charts to the accuracy of a few seconds of the ascendant. Let us try to match their calibre to the best of our ability and use this sacred knowledge to pro vide, benefits to the society at large. To me Astrology is, at bottom, a microscopic criticism of all facets of life under the influence of celestial bodies. It is difficult for any learned man to deny the influence of celestial bodies on life on True Astrology- "Basic and Traditional Concepts" Earth. It is a different matter how to analyse this influence and apply it to predictive Astrology. People oppose things because they are ignorant of them. Laws of science are universal. We do not say American or Indian Laws of Motion. However in astrology no body agrees on anything. It is time, friends, to come to an agreement, at least in respect of its elemental principles. There are so many misunderstandings that if a radical change is not made, the fundamental role of Astrology will be seriously limited. My approach may not be an end in itself. However, I am making an effort in my books under the Title 'True Astrology" to present before the readers how to approach the subject of Astrology in a scientific way. The reader's dedication, devotion and the open-minded approach will bring rewards. However, let us not forget that our success in prediction is largely dependant on the accuracy of the software, which we use for the calculation of planetary and cuspal positions and also the accuracy of the birth data, which more often than not is questionable. The book True Astrology "Basic and Traditional Concepts" is written with the intention to prepare the genuine readers of the sacred science of Astrology to comprehend with ease the Kalamsa and Cuspal Interlinks Theories. Suggestions from readers are welcome. Our solar system consists of Sun, around which planets Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury revolve in elliptical orbits. Moon is a satellite of Earth and revolves around Earth. Since Moon plays an important role in Astrology, it is also considered for all practical purposes a Planet. Since the Moon's orbit is inclined to the plane of Ecliptic (the apparent orbit of Sun), it cuts the Ecliptic during its revolution at two opposite points. These points are called Rahu and Ketu and they are also treated as planets in Hindu Astrology. Since these are only intersection points and don't possess any mass, they are called as shadowy planets. To understand how planets influence life on Earth, it is imperative to study some important fundamental aspects of Astronomy. Astronomical Basics Poles: Earth is a spheroid and if a perpendicular is drawn through the center of the Earth it will meet at two ends of the Earth's sphere. These points are called Poles. One is said North and the other is called South. At North and South poles, there is no East or West direction. 2 True Astrology- "Basic and Traditional Concepts" Earth's Axis: Line joining North pole and South pole passing through the center of the Earth is called the Axis of Earth. Earth's Equator: The great circle whose plane passes through the center of the Earth and which divides the Earth in two hemispheres (North and South) is the Equator. The circle in fact is traced by the perpendiculars drawn from the Earth's surface to North and South poles. Hence, Equator is an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth midway between two poles i.e it is equidistant from the North and South poles i.e 90 degrees towards North or South. Earth's Meridian: The planes parallel to Earth's Equator, having their center on the Axis, can be cut by the planes perpendicular to them and passing through the North and South poles of the Earth. These perpendicular circles are called Meridians. How to fix the co-ordinates of a place on Earth: For measurement we have to set a reference point. In India in olden days, Ujjain was the place of reference. But now, for the whole world, Greenwich is taken as the reference. Location of a place is defined by what is called the longitude and Latitude of the place with respect to Greenwich longitude and latitude i.e. the circles of reference are the equator and the meridian of Greenwich. Longitude: The distance of a point where the meridian drawn through the point cuts the equator, is called the longitude of the place with reference to the point where the reference meridian cuts the equator (QR Arc Fig. l).It is East or West i.e. Oto 180 degrees East or West. Birla Institute of Fundamental Research, M. P. Birla Planetarium, Kolkata, India E-mail: [email protected] (Received November 30, 2014; Reviced May 31, 2015; Aaccepted June 30, 2015) ABSTRACT In modern Astronomy the vernal equinoctial (VE) point is taken as the starting point for measuring celestial longitudes. Due to the precession of equinoxes, the above point is receding back along the ecliptic. As a result, the longitudes of fixed stars are increasing every year. In ancient India, the Hindu astronomers did not favour the idea of fixed stars changing their longitudes. In order to stabilize the zodiac, they had taken as the origin a point which is fixed on the ecliptic and as such is quite different from the VE point. This initial point being a fixed one, the longitude of stars measured from this origin remain invariable for all time. There was an epoch in the past when this initial point coincided with the VE point and thus the epoch may be called the zero-year. There is controversy over the determination of the zero-year. The reasons for the choice for the fixed zodiacal system by the Hindu astronomers as well as the epoch of zero-year have been found out on the basis of information available in various astronomical treatises of ancient India written in Sanskrit.

  • Drekkanna - the D/3 Chart = Dreshkhamsa
DREKKANNA - THE D/3 CHART = DRESHKHAMSA Drekkana the D-3 chart = dreshkhamsha = a graphic representation of the placement of each radix graha into one of the 36 Drekkana BPHS Chapter 6: Shloka 7-8. Dreshkamsha: "One third of a Rashi is called Dreshkamsha. These are totally 36, counted from Mesha, repeating thrice at the rate of 12 per round. The 1st, 5th and the 9th Rashi from a Rashi are its three Dreshkhamsha and are, respectively, lorded by 1. Narada, 2. Agasthya 3. Durvasha." The meaning of the word DRESH – KANA DRESH mens seeing or visualizing objects which are apparent or hidden (obscure) in nature. KANA means corner or trine (Trikona). Therefore, Dreshkana represents the varga (division) where the signs, trine to each other, convey apparent as well as hidden personality and nature (swaroopa) of the native. Quotes From: David Frawley. the Astrology of the Seers, p. 186: "In this harmonic the first 1/3 or ten degrees 00° 00'-10° 00' of any sign ruled by itself. The middle 1/3,10° 00'-20° 00', is ruled by the subsequent sign of the same element. The last 1/3, 20° 00'-30° 00', is ruled by the final sign of the same element. For example, the first 1/3 of Sagittarius is in the harmonic third of Sagittarius, the second 1/3 in the harmonic third of Aries, and the last 1/3 in the harmonic third of Leo. Hence, if Saturn is located in a birth chart at 15° 20' Sagittarius, it would be in the harmonic third of Aries.

  • Re-Defining Tajaka Varshaphal Charts (Annual Solar Return Charts)
Om Gam Ganapataye Namah Om Rishibhyo Namah Om Sree Gurubhyo Namah Re-defining Tajaka Varshaphal Charts (Annual Solar Return Charts) P.V.R. Narasimha Rao June 15, 2014 (version 1) Warning : All copyrights are reserved with author. This article cannot be reproduced in any form in part or in full, without express permission from the author. Introduction Annual solar return charts based on Sun's return every year to his exact natal position are popular in Vedic and western astrology. Divisional charts of Tajaka varshaphal never worked with any consistency for this author with Lahiri ayanamsa. The discovery of Pushya-paksha ayanamsa and refinement of the definitions of some divisional charts based on an independent interpretation of Parasara and resulting experimentation, made divisional charts work reasonably well with Tithi Pravesha charts, but not with Tajaka varshaphal charts. When this author broke from tradition, went back to a teaching of Maharshi Parasara in “Vishnu Purana” on solar years and re-defined Tajaka varshaphal chart, divisional charts of Tajaka varshaphal started showing more consistent patterns. The new definition will be shared in this article with examples. Acknowledgment The basic idea of this research was inspired by a writing of Sri K.N. Rao, albeit in a different context. In his article “Jaimini Chara Dasa – My approach – 2” in “Journal of Astrology” (please see the internet link http://www.journalofastrology.com/article.php?article_id=317 ), he wrote in 2010 November that a particular pratyantardasa ended on Aug 17 th as per his calculations and on Aug 18 th as per “Jagannatha Hora” software.

  • Drekkana Varga by Ernst Wilhelm
Drekkana Varga By Ernst Wilhelm www.astrology-videos.com “Happiness, etc. with relations should be known from Drekkana.” -Sanketi Nidhi “A planet in its own decanate confers virtues".” -Saravali Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra states that the Drekkana indicates happiness with siblings, though Sanketi Nidhi expands upon this idea to include happiness with all relations. An important point, the Drekkana indicates the happiness that the native has with siblings/relations, not the life of the siblings. The life of the siblings is indicated by the relevant Bhava cusp that represents the sibling (3rd for younger, 11th for elder) and that Bhava cusp needs to be read in all Vargas – that is how the life of the siblings is to be read. What the Drekkana itself represents is the capacity that we have to work with all our relations towards mutually fulfilling goals and thus it indicates our happiness with our relations. Afflicted Bhavas and afflicted lords indicate those people in our live with whom we work less effectively; while strong Bhavas and lords in good Lajjitaadi Avasthas indicate those people with whom we work very effectively. Individuals with a good Drekkana are socially able, while those with troubled Drekkanas are socially unable. Remember that the 3rd Bhava, for which the Drekkana is the important Varga, represents an individual’s social ability. The social ability represented by the Drekkana and by the 3rd Bhava is initially developed through the association with siblings, and so ability with siblings is an important aspect of the Drekkana, but the Drekkana is not limited to our social ability with just siblings, it reflects our social ability with everyone that we come across.

  • Introducing Pushya-Paksha Ayanamsa
Om Gam Ganapataye Namah Om Rishibhyo Namah Om Sree Gurubhyo Namah Introducing Pushya-paksha Ayanamsa P.V.R. Narasimha Rao December 31, 2013 (version 1) Warning : All copyrights are reserved with author. This article cannot be reproduced in any form in part or in full, without express permission from the author. Introduction The issue of ayanamsa has vexed astrologers following the sidereal system for a long time. There are many popular ayanamsas and yet there is no conclusive proof, or evidence otherwise, for any of them. An ayanamsa deduced based on Surya Siddhanta and some philosophical rationalization enabled the author to discover some objective astrological principles. It will be shared with interested scholars and students of astrology in this write-up. Several other write-ups illustrating astrological principles that work nicely with this ayanamsa will be shared at http://www.VedicAstrologer.org/articles in coming weeks, months and years. Tropical vs Sidereal Zodiacs Sun's transit through tropical zodiac brings seasons and is associated with observable phenomena. For example, entry of Sun into tropical Aries is always aligned with spring equinox (when daytime and night time are of equal duration) and Sun's entry to tropical Cancer is always aligned with summer solstice (when daytime duration reaches a maximum). Tropical zodiac is tied to seasons and can be reliably fixed based on observable phenomena. Thus, some cultures started using it in astrology. However, zodiacal signs are supposed to be aligned to nakshatras, which correspond to constellations of stars in the sky. For example, the sign of Aries should contain Aswini nakshatra, Bharani nakshatra and a part of Krittika nakshatra.
