Is the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya Connected to the Madhva Line?
Is the Gaudiya Vaishnava sampradaya connected to the Madhva line? Is the Gaudiya Vaishnava sampradaya connected to the Madhva line? – Jagadananda Das – The relationship of the Madhva-sampradaya to the Gaudiya Vaishnavas is one that has been sensitive for more than 200 years. Not only did it rear its head in the time of Baladeva Vidyabhushan, when the legitimacy of the Gaudiyas was challenged in Jaipur, but repeatedly since then. Bhaktivinoda Thakur wrote in his 1892 work Mahaprabhura siksha that those who reject this connection are “the greatest enemies of Sri Krishna Chaitanya’s family of followers.” In subsequent years, nearly every scholar of Bengal Vaishnavism has cast his doubts on this connection including S. K. De, Surendranath Dasgupta, Sundarananda Vidyavinoda, Friedhelm Hardy and others. The degree to which these various authors reject this connection is different. According to Gaudiya tradition, Madhavendra Puri appeared in the 14th century. He was a guru of the Brahma or Madhva-sampradaya, one of the four (Brahma, Sri, Rudra and Sanaka) legitimate Vaishnava lineages of the Kali Yuga. Madhavendra’s disciple Isvara Puri took Sri Krishna Chaitanya as his disciple. The followers of Sri Chaitanya are thus members of the Madhva line. The authoritative sources for this identification with the Madhva lineage are principally four: Kavi Karnapura’s Gaura-ganoddesa-dipika (1576), the writings of Gopala Guru Goswami from around the same time, Baladeva’s Prameya-ratnavali from the late 18th century, and anothe late 18th century work, Narahari’s -

Presents Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam
WWW.GURURAGHAVENDRA.ORG Presents Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam By Balaji. Raghavendran ([email protected]) HARE SREENIVASA! HARI SARVOTHAMA!! VAYOO JEVOTHAMA!! Sri Sri Hayagreevaya Namaha !!! SRI MOOLA RAMO VIJAYATHE !!! Sri Hanuma Bheema Madhwa Sri Vadirajaaya Namaha !!! Sri Raghavendra Namaha !!! Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam I would like to present a brief biography of Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhoma titled "Sri Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma Darshanam". Many great devotees have written / penned about Dwaita philosophy and Sri Sri Raghavendra Yathi Sarvabhouma. I thought of introducing Sri Sri Vadiraja through this website and hope and pray Sri Vadiraja Guru Sarvabhouma would help me complete my mission. I readily accept that I am an unknown entity and my knowledge is limited and a student in the process of learning. If I knowingly or unknowingly make any mistake please forgive me and correct my mistakes... :Introduction: Sri Vadiraja Tirtha was a contemporary of Sri SriPadaraja thirtha and Sri Vyaasa Tirtha (Previous Incarnation of Sri Raghavendra Swamy) and also his disciple. He is considered to be one of the pillars of Dasa movement. He was a great leader and guiding spirit of both the Vyasakuta and Dasakuta. Sri SriPadaraja, Sri Vyaasaraja and Sri Vadiraja are together called as 'Yathi Trayaru', the three great saints in Dasa movement. a. Sri Padaraja is the beginner and considered the grandfather of Dasa's, b. Sri Vadiraja promoter of dasa sahitya. c. Sri Vyaasaraja has made dasa movement more popular by leading a set of esteemed disciples. A point worth noting here is that all these three stalwarts of Dwaitha Philosophy were staunch followers of Sri Madwacharya and believed that HIS philosophy and Hari Bhakti was not limited to only Brahmins but to the society as a whole. -

Our Lord is saluted as “nakshatra nemi” in SrI VishNu sahasra nAmam #441. He is thus recognized as the power behind the movement of the nakshatrams. VishNu purAnam salutes Him also as nakshatra nemi (2.9.2): “As He (in the form of duruvA) goes around, He makes the Sun, the Moon and the stars as well as the planets revolve in their orbits.” He is therefore not only nakshatra nemi, but also sUrya nemi and candra nemi like a nave at the center of the wheel. He supports their movements. Pursuha sUktam salutes Him as “nakshatrANi rUpam”. In Geetopanishad, He declares that among stars, He is the Moon “nakshatrANAm aham SaSi:”. The 442nd SrI VishNu sahasra nAmam takes its cue from here and salutes Him as “nakshatrI”. The Nakshatratvam of the nakshatrams is thus established by the Lord.
