Drekkanna - the D/3 Chart = Dreshkhamsa DREKKANNA - THE D/3 CHART = DRESHKHAMSA Drekkana the D-3 chart = dreshkhamsha = a graphic representation of the placement of each radix graha into one of the 36 Drekkana BPHS Chapter 6: Shloka 7-8. Dreshkamsha: "One third of a Rashi is called Dreshkamsha. These are totally 36, counted from Mesha, repeating thrice at the rate of 12 per round. The 1st, 5th and the 9th Rashi from a Rashi are its three Dreshkhamsha and are, respectively, lorded by 1. Narada, 2. Agasthya 3. Durvasha." The meaning of the word DRESH – KANA DRESH mens seeing or visualizing objects which are apparent or hidden (obscure) in nature. KANA means corner or trine (Trikona). Therefore, Dreshkana represents the varga (division) where the signs, trine to each other, convey apparent as well as hidden personality and nature (swaroopa) of the native. Quotes From: David Frawley. the Astrology of the Seers, p. 186: "In this harmonic the first 1/3 or ten degrees 00° 00'-10° 00' of any sign ruled by itself. The middle 1/3,10° 00'-20° 00', is ruled by the subsequent sign of the same element. The last 1/3, 20° 00'-30° 00', is ruled by the final sign of the same element. For example, the first 1/3 of Sagittarius is in the harmonic third of Sagittarius, the second 1/3 in the harmonic third of Aries, and the last 1/3 in the harmonic third of Leo. Hence, if Saturn is located in a birth chart at 15° 20' Sagittarius, it would be in the harmonic third of Aries. Western astrology has long used the decanate but usually calculates it differently. It makes the first third of a sign that of the Cardinal sign of the element, the second that of the Fixed sign and the last that of the Mutable sign. Hence, it sees the first third of Sagittarius as Aries, the second as Leo and the third as Sagittarius. If they are connected in drekkana chart then life would be happy. Notes prepared for students of Jyotisha Bharati, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, India by Prof. Anthony Writer 3 DREKKANNA - THE D/3 CHART = DRESHKHAMSA - Any planet when aspected by its drekka lord in the birth chart is very powerful and gives auspicious results. - The 8 th house of drekkana chart is known as Khara Drekkana or 22 nd drekkana. - The literal meaning of Khara : harsh, rough, donkey, harmsful, sharp, sharp edged, cruel, etc. - How to arrive at the 22nd Drekkana : - Method of calculating 22nd Drekkana There are 36 Drekkanas; 3 for each of the 12 Rashis. From the Lagna Drekkana in your horoscope, count successively till the 22nd Drekkana. For example if your Lagna is in the first 10 degrees you are born in the first Drekkana. From that count the number of Drekkanas for each Rashi. So, in this case, the 22nd Drekkana will be the 1st Drekkana of the 8th house for your horoscope; if your birth in the second Drekkana i.e. between 10 and 20 deg. of a sign, the 22nd Drekkana will fall in the 2nd Drekkana of the 8th sign; if your birth is in the third Drekkana, the 22nd Drekkana will be in the 3rd Drekkana of the 8th sign from your Lagna. The 22nd Drekkana is also called the “Niryaana Drekkana” There are various methods of counting 22nd Drekkana, but a short cut technique is to look for the lord of 8th house in D-3. That planet would be lord of 22nd Drekkana for your chart. a) As it is calculated from lagna, it brings harm of physical nature. - the placement of kharesh from lagna in the drekkana chart shows inner turmoil, struggle related to disease, debt or enemies. - Notes on 22nd Drekkana - Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra states that in natal astrology, the nature of the 22 nd Drekkana indicates the source/ manner of death. - In general condition when Longevity has not reached optimum it is concerned with bodily discomfort, health matters, and threat to longevity of the native. Some of the special effects are as follows: •Occupation of natural malefic in 22nd Drekkana, in Rashi, reduces the potential of the chart up to a great extent. •Ayudha Drekkana indicates injury with weapons as cause of death / accidents, and so on. •Sarpa Drekkana can mean danger from poisonous reptiles that could be lifethreatening. •Dasha/Bhukti of lord of 22nd Drekkana generally afflicts native’s health andyield mental agony, when devoid of benefic aspects. If the concerned Notes prepared for students of Jyotisha Bharati, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, India by Prof. Anthony Writer 4 DREKKANNA - THE D/3 CHART = DRESHKHAMSA planet isalso a natural malefic and posited in malefic Rashi then intensity of evil woulddefinitely be higher than expected. •Whenever lord of Lagna transits the 22nd Drekkana, loss, bodily discomfort, grief and quarrel results. •In a similar fashion transit of lord of 22nd Drekkana in ascendant produces trouble regarding significance of 1st house. •Like ascendant, obtain 22nd Drekkanas of other planets specially Moon and Sun. Transit of that planet into respective 22nd Drekkana always mar the significance of planet transited. •Avoid starting any new task when your luminaries are transiting their 22ndDrekkana or/and Kharesh moving over Sun or Moon - Each drekkana consists of 4 dwadasamsha: 1st is ruled by Ganesha 2nd is ruled by Ashwini kumar 3rd is ruled by Yama 4th is ruled by Ahi or Serpent or Sarpa Placement of lagna lord in Sarpa drekkana brings many problems in life. The placement of ninth lord in sarpa drekkana brings failures in life despite efforts whereas the tenth lord in sarpa drekkana makes the native indecisive and gives little success in his profession. - If the Lagna Drekkana is Pasha Drekkana, then the native may experiencebondage/ incarceration. - If the birth is in Chatushpada Drekkana (quadruped Drekkana) or if the 7th lord is in the Chatushpada Drekkana, then the sexual activity of the native will resemble that of a quadruped. - This has been explained in detail in various classics including Brihat ParasharaHora Shastra, Sarvartha Chintamani and Saravali.

Sri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in March, 1971. He lived in India for 6 years till 1983, studying Jyotish and has received certificate of commendation for spreading Hindu astrology in the USA, from the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, in 1999. Web site: http://www.robertkoch.com n the first Canto of the great Vedic Purana Srimad Bhagavatam, there is a very interesting and instructional conversation that took place between a bull personifying I Dharma, or religion, and Bhumi, the mother earth in the form of a cow. The bull was standing on one leg, suggesting that that one out of four pillars of religious principles (represented by each leg of Dharma, the bull) was still existing, and that in itself was faltering with the progress of Kali-yuga. The four legs of the Dharma are truthfulness, cleanliness, mercy, and austerity. If most or all of these legs of Dharma are broken, or if 3 out of 4 Dharmic principles exist very rarely, in human society, then we can be confident that Kali-yuga – the age of quarrel and darkness – is well upon us. Given that there are some rare souls existing who speak and live the Supreme Absolute Truth, as is found in various Vedic literatures, the remaining leg of truthfulness still exists. Such persons are characterized by complete self-control, or the ability to detach themselves from the relative world of the senses and the objects of sense pleasure.

The Indian proverb truly says that there is no man who is not a bit of a physician and an astrologer; and it is equally true that there is no subject wbich is so iII·understood as these two. The fact is that the broad medical and astrological principles arc so many that everybody of necessity learns a few of these, but experiences a difficulty in mastering all .l)f them. It would be interesttng to note the various subjects with which astrology is confounded. Persons with well developed intuitions are often found to make correct pre dictions of events. The Yogis are persons of this descrip tion. Their peculiar knowledge is certainly not the result of any st udy of astrological works. We also find another class of men who imitate these men and also make striking statements. Binningham gold is often taken for sterling gold; German silver for pure silver; and we have a variety of inferior stones, wbite, red and green that are often mistaken for diamonds, rubies and emeralds. The world is full of this dual character of things. Every department of true knowledge bas its inferior counterpart and so we have a nu~ber of men wbo, posscssmg no occult powers, but securing the belp of a few elemental spirits, practise imposition on the ignorant public.

This belt is considered special because it is where the sun, the moon, and the planets all move. The word zodiac means “circle of figures” or “circle of life”. As the earth revolves around the sun, different parts of the sky become visible. Each month, one of the 12 constellations show up above the horizon in the east and disappears below the horizon in the west. If you are born under a particular sign, the constellation it is named for can’t be seen at night. Conclusion : the success of Astrology and the role of Science • References The influence of celestial bodies on Earth has several obvious manifestations : life on Earth depends on the Sun, seasons are linked to its position in the sky (due to the non–perpendicularity of the Earth’s rotation axis with respect to the ecliptic plane), … Seasons … ocean tides are controlled by the position of the Moon (via its differential gravitation) and of the Sun, and eclipses are due to Sun–Moon–Earth alignments. Solar eclipse High/Low tides Astrology extrapolates these factual influences by postulating that the positions of the Sun, Moon and 8 planets* other than Earth (hereafter the « luminars ») with respect to the sky background, as well as with respect to each other, influence terrestrial events and human psychology and destiny. *wandering celestial bodies Apparent trajectory of Mars as seen from Earth, and explanation The position of luminars is considered - relative to the tropical zodiac, defined by Hipparchus* : 12 « signs » dividing in 30° sectors the band of constellations upon which the motions of the Sun and planets are projected during the year, with an arbitrary origin at the vernal – spring – equinox (γ), and - relative to the « houses », a local reference frame dividing the local sky in 12 sectors.

  • Re-Defining Tajaka Varshaphal Charts (Annual Solar Return Charts)
Om Gam Ganapataye Namah Om Rishibhyo Namah Om Sree Gurubhyo Namah Re-defining Tajaka Varshaphal Charts (Annual Solar Return Charts) P.V.R. Narasimha Rao June 15, 2014 (version 1) Warning : All copyrights are reserved with author. This article cannot be reproduced in any form in part or in full, without express permission from the author. Introduction Annual solar return charts based on Sun's return every year to his exact natal position are popular in Vedic and western astrology. Divisional charts of Tajaka varshaphal never worked with any consistency for this author with Lahiri ayanamsa. The discovery of Pushya-paksha ayanamsa and refinement of the definitions of some divisional charts based on an independent interpretation of Parasara and resulting experimentation, made divisional charts work reasonably well with Tithi Pravesha charts, but not with Tajaka varshaphal charts. When this author broke from tradition, went back to a teaching of Maharshi Parasara in “Vishnu Purana” on solar years and re-defined Tajaka varshaphal chart, divisional charts of Tajaka varshaphal started showing more consistent patterns. The new definition will be shared in this article with examples. Acknowledgment The basic idea of this research was inspired by a writing of Sri K.N. Rao, albeit in a different context. In his article “Jaimini Chara Dasa – My approach – 2” in “Journal of Astrology” (please see the internet link http://www.journalofastrology.com/article.php?article_id=317 ), he wrote in 2010 November that a particular pratyantardasa ended on Aug 17 th as per his calculations and on Aug 18 th as per “Jagannatha Hora” software.

  • The Natural Zodiac: the Nature of the Archetypes in Evolutionary Astrology
The Natural Zodiac: The nature of the archetypes in Evolutionary Astrology. An introduction to the teachings of Jeffrey Wolf Green by Mark Jones, U.K. Pluto School, May 2003. The Zodiac itself represents or incorporates the totality of consciousness in human form on the earth in space-time reality. All of our human experience within the relative universe is contained within the 12 signs of the Zodiac. The next central point to understand is that from the perspective of Evolutionary Astrology there is no essential difference between a planetary embodiment of an archetype or that of a house cusp or planet – in simple terms, with the example of the first archetype Aries - there is no difference between the sign Aries, the first house and the planet Mars. They all carry some essential quality as the first of the twelve – they all share an essential similarity. What you are actually looking at when you look at a chart is how any given consciousness is structured. The 12 archetypes provide energy and quality within a multiplicity of possible interactions with each other to create the diversity of possible experience in life on earth. Rather like DNA the 12 strands or archetypes of the zodiac provide a blueprint for all experience. ARIES Aries is a Cardinal, Fire and Yang archetype. This correlates with the nature of energy moving outwards from the center, projected energy (whereas the Yin archetypes correspond to energy returning to the center). Whilst the Yin/Yang dynamic of the signs represents the natural polarity of our universe, the trinity of Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable signs adds a further dimension to the type of energy expressed.
