Von Celente was born into an Italian American family in the Bronx, New York. He had early political experience working in the mayoral campaign in Yonkers, New York, and served as executive assistant secretary of the New York State Senate. (when?) From 1973 to 1979, Celente traveled between major U.S. cities Chicago, Illinois and Washington, D.C., as a government specialist. In 1980, Selente founded the Trend Research Institute (originally called the Institute for Social and Economic Research of America), which is now based in Kingston, New York, the publisher of Trends Journal, which predicts and analyzes business, socioeconomic, political and other trends. Forecasting his forecasts since 1993 included predictions of terrorism, economic collapse and war. More recent projections are related to fascism in the United States, food riots and tax riots. Celente has long predicted global anti-Americanism, a failed economy, and immigration woes in the United States. In 2009, Celente predicted the upheavals he described as Obamacare, and he was a popular guest on conservative cable television shows such as Fox News Sunday and Glenn Beck's television program.
