For the crumble topping, add the flour to a mixing bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs and no large lumps of butter are left. Stir in the sugar and set aside. 5. For the cake, in a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Stir in the ground almonds until thoroughly combined. 6. In another bowl beat together the sugar with the melted butter, eggs, yoghurt and milk mixture until thoroughly mixed.

This study was the first time in Russia to carry out a large-scale (127 samples) assessment of the diverse gene pool of black currant and red currant, the study of intervarietal polymorphism between varieties of the Ribes L. genus from the VNIISPK collection. A cluster analysis of the genetic similarity of black currant varieties (53 varieties), red currant (73 varieties) and one gooseberry variety was performed using 14 SSR markers. Based on the data obtained, a dendrogram was built, in which a number of clusters with high bootstrap support (BS, %) were distinguished. At BS>50%, the coefficients of pairwise genetic similarity between varieties varied from 0.4 to 0.91. The studied representatives of the Ribes genus merged into two main clusters of red currant and black currant. The blackcurrant cluster was joined by gooseberries. The SSR analysis method allows to reveal broad perspectives in the field of identifying varieties affiliation to species. 1 Introduction Currant became known to people quite a long time ago. These infectious agents belong to different genera and are heterogeneous in their biology. Alaska vitivirus 1 and Ribes virus F were excluded from categorisation because these are very poorly characterised viruses. The pest categorisation was completed for seven viruses with clear identity and for which detection methods are available. All these viruses are efficiently transmitted by vegetative propagation techniques, with plants for planting representing the major pathway for long- distance dispersal and thus considered as the major pathway for entry. Depending on the virus, additional pathway(s) can also be Ribes seeds, pollen and/or vector(s). Most of the viruses categorised here are known to infect only one or few plant genera, but tomato ringspot virus (ToRSV) has a wide host range, thus extending the possible entry pathways.

Global redox colorimetric assays have commonly been used to estimate the total polyphenol content in foods. However, these assays lack specificity. Contents of individual polyphenols have been determined by chromatography. These data, scattered in several hundred publications, have been compiled in the Phenol-Explorer database. The aim of this paper is to identify the 100 richest dietary sources of polyphenols using this database. Subjects/Methods: Advanced queries in the Phenol-Explorer database (www.phenol-explorer.eu) allowed retrieval of information on the content of 502 polyphenol glycosides, esters and aglycones in 452 foods. Total polyphenol content was calculated as the sum of the contents of all individual polyphenols. These content values were compared with the content of antioxidants estimated using the Folin assay method in the same foods. These values were also extracted from the same database. Amounts per serving were calculated using common serving sizes.

Symyrenko Horticulture Department, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine Ribes L. The genus Ribes L. (Grossulariaceae) includes some edible gooseberries and currants which are among popular small fruit crops in Ukraine. Fruit currants are divided into blackcurrant Ribes aureum Pursh Ribes nigrum L. (R. nigrum L.), red and whitecurrant (Ribes petreum Wulfen, R. rubrum L., R. spicatum E.Robson and their interspecies hybrids) and goldencurrant (5). Most gooseberry cultivars belong to hybrids between European R. uva-crispa L. and some American species. Ribes rubrum L. Ribes uva-crispa L. Currants and gooseberries in Ukraine The both gooseberry and currant cultivars are widely grown in commercial and amateur SmalI fruits orchards in Ukraine. The area of currant plantations at bearing age makes 4.5 thousand hectares and the area of the gooseberry plantations makes 0.9 thousand hectares, which are 22.7% and 4.5% of total berries area, respectively. Ukrainian currant production estimated annually is estimated roughly at 24,5 thousand tons, and gooseberry production is estimated at 6.6 thousand tons. The State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine in 2020 includes 26 black currant cultivars, 11 red and white currant cultivars, and 21 gooseberry cultivars. Petro Sherenhovyj (1924-2016) The breeding work on Ribes was started at the NULESU (former Ukrainian Agricultural Academy) in 1984. Petro Sherengovyi, as the founder of the breeding program, used methods of cross breeding, either via controlled crosses or via open pollination and as well as bud sports.
