  • Destination Croatia
© Lonely Planet Publications 16 Destination Croatia Sitting on a see-saw between the Balkans and Central Europe, Croatia has been suffering from something of a love-hate-love affair with the EU and its neighbours. Invited to join the UN Security Council in January 2008, its NATO membership was poised for 2009, but its dispute with the EU over its fishing laws saw displeased finger-wagging from the European officials and the already slightly elusive EU joining date (is it 2010? 2011? Perhaps 2012?) caught on yet another hurdle. March 2008 saw the beginning of the trial of Ante Gotovina, Croatia’s wartime general whose arrest was the main prerequisite for the beginning of Croatia’s talks for joining the EU back in 2005. Gotovina stands accused of ‘joint criminal enterprise’ for the expulsion of Serbs from Krajina in 1995. Revered and still seen as a hero by many in his native Zadar region, Gotovina’s trial is sure to bring home some controversial elements of Croatia’s Homeland War. Still in progress at the time of writing were the judicial reforms, the FAST FACTS struggle against corruption and the improvement of conditions for the Population: 4.5 million setting up of private businesses in the country, all of which have to be ful- Area: 56,538 sq km filled before Croatia can get its foot in the door of the desirable European club.

MASTER THESIS The Impact of Gender Equality in Film Festival Management on the Female Representation of Awarded Film Directors Student name: Feline Koelemij Student number: 511856 Supervisor: Dr. Christian Handke Second reader: Ms. Liesbeth de Strooper Master Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication Erasmus University of Rotterdam Master Thesis Date final version: 15 June 2020 The Impact of Gender Equality in Film Festival Management on the Female Representation of Awarded Film Directors Abstract This thesis investigates the gender equality within film festivals management teams and its influence on the female representation of awarded film directors. As a masculine organisational culture create a gender gap, Hofstede’s dimensions, which measure organisational cultures per country, have been used. Both the researched film festival organisations and the awarded film directors show a gender gap, which is persistent in both Europe and North America. The film festivals which have been established earlier, seem to have more female directors and executives. Film festivals with more female employees also have more female directors and executives. All in all, this research did not find a causal relationship between the gender of film festival management teams and the gender of the awarded film festivals. Nonetheless, it did find that certain aspects of the geographical location, and the longitude of existence of a film festival affects the female representation within the director and executives’

  • Q.Ne.ST DC2.5 Publications on Capitalized Best Practices and Routes
Q.ne.S.T. DC2.5 Publications on Capitalized best practices and routes: revised reports and informative sheets on the capitalization activities on best practices and routes. Istria (Croatia) _______________________ QNeST International Itineraries: Wine and Olive Oil Itinerary The theme of the Mediterranean Diet, with a particular focus on oil and wine, runs through all the countries of the EUSAIR area. The landscapes, characterised by olive groves and vineyards, bear witness to the common culture of the Euro-Mediterranean area, although each region has its own cultivars and production techniques. Oil and wine have always been used not just in food, but also in the rituals of the various belief systems practised on the shores of the Mediterranean. All the areas involved in the QNeST brand are crossed by routes linked to oil and wine. In Puglia, the greenways involving olive groves and vineyards are characterised by centuries-old monumental olive trees and olive oil mills, extensive vineyards and wineries. Along these routes in Xanthi, the olive trees stand out in all their majesty, while the wine route bears witness to the region's historic identity. The olive route in Epirus also highlights the bond between the centuries- old olive trees and the region. In the Marche region, the "Emotions without Borders" and "Experience the Region" routes allow you to discover the wealth of local heritage. The "Cycling through the Wineries" route allows you to enjoy the wineries in the Euganean Hills in Veneto in combination with the spas in the area. The vineyards and wineries of Montenegro are a constant theme of the "Historic and Natural treasure Route".
