Marion Luther Brittain Service Award Thomas G. Long This award, symbolic of all honors bestowed on students by the Bandy Professor of Preaching university, is an expression of gratitude for service performed Candler School of Theology and Laney Graduate School without expectation of reward or recognition. The award was established at Emory in 1942 through a bequest from a Tom Long, named by Baylor University in 1996 as one of distinguished Emory alumnus, former President Brittain of the the twelve “most effective preachers in the English-speaking Georgia Institute of Technology. world,” joined the faculty of Candler School of Theology and the Laney Graduate School in 2000.
