Starting a new era of cooperation between scholars in biblical studies, more than 1,000 scholars representing Jewish, Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant, Muslim, secular and other traditions have now contributed to the project. Their work offers discussions that reflect a range of perspectives across a wide theological spectrum. The Anchor Bible Project continues to produce volumes that keep readers now on the latest scholarships and are based on analysis. The work brings advances in science and technology to bear on biblical materials, making historical and linguistic knowledge related to the interpretation of biblical writing available to experts and students alike. By 2005, more than 120 volumes were published, each edited by David Noel Friedman, editor-in-chief and published by Doubleday (part of Random House, Inc.), Friedman died in 2008. Since then, John Collins has served as editor-in-chief. In 2007, Yale University Press acquired the Anchor of the Bible series. Yale now publishes backlist titles and new titles like the Yale Bible series. Anchor Bible Comment Series Anchor Bible Comment series, created under the direction of William Foxwell Albright (1891-1971), includes the translation and exegesis of the Jewish Bible, the New Testament and inter-establishment books (Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Deuterocanon/Protestant apocryphs; rather than books called Catholics and Orthodox Apocrifa, which are commonly referred to as Protestant psepigraphudea). For each biblical book, the series includes an original translation (with annotations, including alternative translations) of ancient texts, using modern knowledge of ancient languages; Reviews of the historical, critical and literary evolution of the text; Sketch of major themes and topics; verse after verse comment; Treatment of competing scientific theories; Historical background; and photographs, illustrations and maps of artifacts and places associated with figures and places. Anchor Bible Dictionary ABD Anchor Bible Dictionary contains more than 6,000 entries from 800 international scholars. It has illustrations and art lines throughout, and is also available for download from Bible logo software or matching Bible software. The Dictionary includes articles on the Dead Sea Scrolls, early Jewish-Christian relations, historical Jesus, sociological and literary methods of biblical criticism, feminist hermeneutics, as well as numerous entries on archaeological excavations, as well as bibliography with quotations listed individually at the end of each article.
