1 About Me

Hello, my name is Garrett Goebel and I was born in Independence, Missouri on October 24, 1997. I have been graphic designing since 2014. Over the years I have realized that working in software like InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator are very enjoyable. What influences and inspires me mostly comes from video games and motorsports. I have been a gamer since I was four years old. Playing racing games got me into racing and car enthusiasm.

Pencil drawing of Cayde-6 (Destiny) Since 2016, I have been working on my own personal brand and trying to shape what type of artist I would be. Here in this portfolio contains my best projects and designs that will show what type of designer I am.

Garrett Goebel–Spring 2016 Since my senior year of high school, I have been trying to create a personal design identity. What began as a logoization of my name has now turned into a personal studio logo. The first series of logos were vey blocky. Garrett Goebel was not going to work because it was too long and was just my name. I took the vowels out of Goebel and got “gbl” which lead me to the whole GBL concept. Goebel Studios was simply way too square, so I made it more rectangular and made some minor tweaks. I was satisfied with the end results and ended up with GBL Team, however peer reviews showed me it wasn’t very flowing and it was too choppy. Going back to the drawing board I came up with GBS. I GBL–Winter 2017 wanted the logo to be one shape. Each individual letter chained to eachother. The logo was italiziced by fifteen degrees to add a dynamic feel. Feedback of this version was that the “s” made no sense with the “b” so I needed to change the abbriviation. GBLS felt too long so I went

Early 2019–Current with GS. GBL Team–Early 2018 The play, pause and stop symbols make the “dio” in studios. These symbols are univerally known in didgital media and since Goebel Studios plans on doing digital media, it seems to fit.The mark between the G and S is a sigil taken out of the b from GBS.

4 NSX Super GT

The main focus of this wrap was to be abstract by using spray brush effects. The car of choice is a Honda NSX Super GT racecar. The thumbnail below is a sample of what the overall design of the wrap was going to end up as. The body color is white with black and red decals. I chose to use these colors because Honda racecars used to be white with red. I wanted to make a wrap that looks raceday ready. The American flags on the back window and side pannels are to show the team is American.

Brush effect art that inspired the NSX Super GT livery

5 Huracán GT4

Most of the wraps with my personal brand on the vehicles have more of a focus on color transitioning. The Goebel Studios wraps on here have the intent of looking as if they are going to be in an actual race day event. On this Lamborghini the front looks like the car’s true base color of white. However, when looking directly at the back, the car looks mainly orange. The orange stripes on the front flow to the sides to help the eye look at the rest of the livery. The black is mainly used as a compliment to the orange.

6 Cayman GT4

This one is more of a basic wrap. Red front splitter and mirrors to add balance with the blue and white base color. Then we have red with the hood stripe and the blue body wrap for more balance.

7 GT–R Super GT

On this livery, the white and orange overlap eachother on the sides. The orange starts on the front and weaves around to dissapear at the rear. The main sponsor fits in the white shape on the side to display properly.

8 Supra GT 3

This wrap was made with the GBS logo. This wrap begins with the nose being white. Then the hood turns to orange and widens over the sides along the aerodynamics of the fenders. White comes in and flows along with the door edges and rear fenders to wrap around the line of the trunk line. There are 5 slots on each side of the hood. I took advantage of this by putting my gamertag logo in the slots. I reflected the passenger side one in reverse to add symmetry for extra effects. On the Supra’s front splitter, mirrors, and a-pillar, a pattern that I associate with GS. The pattern is lightly present to add some varient and to draw some extra attention to the design.

9 AMG GT3

Just to get the elephant out of the room, this is a personal favorite of mine. The AMG folows suit to the Huracán GT 4. The front of the racecar looks white (which it actually is), but switches to black in the rear. I added some acute angles on the side to help the colors bleed over the other sections of the car.

10 Vantage GT3

The first thing a racing enthusiast would say when looking at this one would be, “did you base that off the old Gulf liveries?” And the answer to that would be a deep exhale followed by a nope. Orange and blue are just complimentary colors. This vantage GT 3 has a reletivly basic design with a orange hood with a white stripe. The blue base color is present on the front and side, but is engulfed by orange in the rear. the orange and white contouring to the door make it somewhat retro.

11 911 GT 3

One of my first Liveries made. Back in 2016 I wanted to make a liverie that was differnt on each side but still looked unified. When looking at the rear, the wrap seems normal, but when approaching each side, they are different. The right side has a horizontal design that takes you to the front or back of the racecar. The driver side takes to the trunk or rear wing from the front side. The picture below is the first version of this livery made in 2016. Early 2019 I went back and revised this design to clean the livery and make tweaks.

15 Solstice Poster

WE BUILT EXCITEMENT This poster was made back in fall of 2017 as a request. The client wanted a poster made for his 2006 Pontiac Solstice that he could display during car shows. The Pontiac Solstice was first introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. The Solstice I made this thinking about a video game called Gran began production in mid 2005 in Delaware. The Solstice First concept to show the poster’s directio is in the same family as the Saturn Sky, Opel GT, and Turismo 2. Even if it was made in 1999 I thought the Daewoo G2X. It was the brand’s first two-seater since style of its UI would work for this. That is where the red the Pontiac Fiero was discontinued in 1988. The First One-Thousand gradient and orange text came from.
