ÖZBEK Abstract: This is a faunistic and systematic study on the subfamily Pimplinae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) occurring in eastern and northeastern parts of Turkey, during 1999-2004. Totally, 55 species in 24 genera and 5 tribes were recognized. Of these, 16 species are new for the Turkish fauna. New distribution areas are added for almost all previous known species. Keys to the tribes, genera and species are prepared. New hostes are designated for some species. Total species in the subfamily Pimplinae have been recorded occurring in Turkey compile 77 species in 30 genera. Introduction The Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera), is a widespread and extremely large family, with an estimated 60.000 extant species in 35 genera worldwide (TOWNES 1969). GAULD (2000) estimated, by extrapolating from recent collections that the total global species-richness of the family will be more than 100.000 species. The family is most species-rich in the temperate regions and the humid tropics; relatively more species in cool moist climates than in warm dry ones (GAULD 1991). -
The Phylogeny and Evolutionary Biology of the Pimplinae (Hymenoptera : Ichneumonidae)
THE PHYLOGENY AND EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY OF THE PIMPLINAE (HYMENOPTERA : ICHNEUMONIDAE) Paul Eggleton A thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the University of London Department of Entomology Department of Pure & Applied B ritish Museum (Natural H istory) Biology, Imperial College London London May 1989 ABSTRACT £ The phylogeny and evolutionary biology of the Pimplinae are investigated using a cladistic compatibility method. Cladistic methodology is reviewed in the introduction, and the advantages of using a compatibility method explained. Unweighted and weighted compatibility techniques are outlined. The presently accepted classification of the Pimplinae is investigated by reference to the diagnostic characters used by earlier workers. The Pimplinae do not form a natural grouping using this character set. An additional 22 new characters are added to the data set for a further analysis. The results show that the Pimplinae (sensu lato) form four separate and unconnected lineages. It is recommended that the lineages each be given subfamily status. Other taxonomic changes at tribal level are suggested. The host and host microhabitat relations of the Pimplinae (sensu s tr ic to ) are placed within the evolutionary framework of the analyses of morphological characters. The importance of a primitive association with hosts in decaying wood is stressed, and the various evolutionary pathways away from this microhabitat discussed. The biology of the Rhyssinae is reviewed, especially with respect to mating behaviour and male reproductive strategies. The Rhyssinae (78 species) are analysed cladistically using 62 characters, but excluding characters thought to be connected with mating behaviour. Morphometric studies show that certain male gastral characters are associated with particular mating systems. -

Entomologiske Meddelelser Indeks for Bind 1-67 (1887-1999) Entomologisk Forening København 2000 FORORD Tidsskriftet "Entomologiske Meddelelser" - Entomologisk Forenings medlemsblad - blev grundlagt i 1887, og er således det ældste danske entomologiske tidsskrift, som stadig udgives. Det har siden sin start haft til formål at udbrede kendskabet til entomologien i almindelighed og dansk entomologi i særdeleshed. De første 5 bind udkom i årene 1887-1896 og omhandlede primært artikler af særlig relevans for dansk entomologi. Herefter skiftede det format, såvel rent fysisk som (mere gradvis) indholdsmæssigt, og fik efterhånden et mere internationalt tilsnit med en vis andel af bl.a. tysk- og engelsksprogede artikler. I forbindelse med overgangen til det nye format, benævntes tidsskriftet nu som "Entomologiske Meddelelser, 2. Række" og nummereringen af de enkelte bind startede forfra. Efter at have praktiseret denne nummerering i nogle år, droppedes dog betegnelsen "2. Række", og man vendte tilbage til at nummerere bindene fortløbende fra det først udkomne bind. Efter at tidsskriftet op igennem 1900-tallet havde fået et stigende indhold af artikler med internationalt sigte, blev det fra bind 39 (1971) besluttet at koncentrere indholdet til primært dansksprogede artikler af særlig relevans for den danske fauna. Samtidig overgik de enkelte bind til at udgøre årgange i stedet for, som tidligere, at være flerårige. "Entomologiske Meddelelser" har siden sin start bragt hen mod 1600 originale, videnskabelige artikler eller mindre meddelelser, næsten 500 boganmeldelser, over 100 biografier eller nekrologer over primært danske entomologer, samt enkelte meddelelser af anden slags. For at lette overskueligheden over den meget betydelige mængde af information disse publikationer rummer, har Entomologisk Forenings bestyrelse fundet tiden moden til at sammenstille et indeks over indholdet af samtlige udkomne numre af "Entomologiske Meddelser" til og med bind 67 (årgang 1999). -

Kekunci untuk spesies daripada Malaysia disediakan. 10 Serangga Kata kunci: Ichneumonidae, Ephialtinae, Pimplinae, Zaglyptus, Malaysia INTRODUCTION The Zaglyptus belonging to the tribe Ephialtini (Pimplini sensu Townes 1969), was assigned to a genus by Foerster (1869) based on the type species Polysphincta varipes Gravenhorst and designed subsequent by Woeldestedt (1877). However, Gauld et al (2002) classified Zaglyptus to the Polysphincta genus-complex (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae: Pimplinae) based on phylogenetic analysis of this suprageneric group. The first Oriental species was described by Cushman in 1933 as Z. formosus from Formosa. Recently Gupta (1960) had revised this genus for oriental region and found only Z. indicus nigrithorax Gupta from Malaysia (Yu & Horstmann 1997). Zaglyptus is worldwide in distribution but contains relatively few species. This genus is koinobiont ectoparasitoid of spider. -

E-mail: [email protected] Abstract The Chinese Acropimpla Townes from the Parasitic Hymenoptera Collection of Zhejiang University were studied and fifteen species recognized, with two new species proposed, A. laevituberculata sp. nov. and A. taishunensis sp. nov., and three new records to China, A. punctata Baltazar, A. aspera Gupta et Tikar, and A. didyma (Gravenhorst), and with ten species were previously known for the Chinese fauna as follows, A. emmiltosa Kusigemati, A. hapaliae (Rao), A. leucostoma (Cameron), A. nakula Gupta et Tikar, A. nigrescens nigrescens (Cushman), A. persimilis (Ashmead), A. pictipes (Gravenhorst), A. poorva Gupta et Tikar, A. tricolor Kusigemati and A. uchidai (Cushman). An illustrated key to the Chinese species is provided, based on female characters. Life history evolution in the parasitoid Hymenoptera Ruth Elizabeth Traynor This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy University of York Department of Biology 2004 Abstract This thesis addresses life history evolution of the parasitoid Hymenoptera. It aims to identify assumptions that should be incorporated into parasitoid life history theory and the predictions that theory should aim to make. Both two species and multi-species comparative studies as well as up-to-date phylogenetic information are employed to investigate these issues. Anecdotal observations suggest that solitary parasitoids have narrower host ranges than closely related gregarious species. There are several possible reasons for this; for example gregarious species may be able to exploit larger bodied hosts because they can fully consume the host, which may be essential for successful pupation to occur. Comparative laboratory experiments between two closely related species of Aphaereta, one of which is solitary and the other gregarious, show no difference in the extent of host range. This study does, however, suggest that differences in the realized niche that each species occupies in the field may result from life history differences between the species. These differences may themselves have arisen due to solitary or gregarious development. The first multi-species study in the thesis uses a data set, compiled for the parasitic Hymenoptera by Blackburn (1990), to address factors that may influence body size and clutch size. This study builds on previous analyses of the data (see Blackburn 1990, 1991a/b, Mayhew & Blackburn 1999) through the use of up-to-date phylogenetic information. Evidence is found that the host stage attacked by a parasitoid is associated with both body and clutch size, due to the amount of resources available for the developing parasitoids. -

Key words: Ephialtini, taxonomy, new records Introduction Acropimpla Townes, 1960 is a moderately large genus of the subfamily Pimplinae, with 41 known species, 34 of which occur in the Oriental region (Yu et al. 2012). Recent investigations in this region have revealed a high percentage of undescribed species, indicating that the Oriental fauna is still relatively poorly known (Liu et al. 2010; Pham et al. 2011). Based on recent collections of Ichneumonidae from Thailand, we provide the first record of Acropimpla species for this country, with descriptions of three new species and records of six further species.
