Bibliographie Des Hyménoptères De Belgique Précédée De Notices Biographiques (1827-2000) Seconde Et Troisième Parties Notes fauniques de Gembloux, n°45 (2001): 3-111 Bibliographie des Hyménoptères de Belgique précédée de notices biographiques (1827-2000) Seconde et troisième parties * par Alain PAULY Introduction La première partie de cette bibliographie, publiée dans les Notes fauniques de Gembloux (n°44, pp: 37-84), contenait les récits de la vie des principaux hyménoptéristes belges, depuis Vander Linden (1797-1831) jusqu’à nos jours. Voici les deuxième et troisième parties. La deuxième partie présente la liste de tous les articles relatifs aux hyménoptères de Belgique, la plupart du temps écrits par des auteurs belges, classés par auteurs et par dates de publication (plus de 1300 références). La troisième partie indique quels sont les travaux les plus récents qui permettent de cataloguer ou identifier les espèces. Ces travaux sont classés par groupes systématiques ou par sujets. Ils proviennent aussi bien de la littérature étrangère que de la littérature belge (plus de 600 références). Cette bibliographie devrait servir de base pour l’élaboration d’un catalogue des hyménoptères de Belgique, comme il en existe déjà pour les lépidoptères et les diptères. Seconde partie ACHTERBERG, C. Changes in vegetation structure can alter the physical habitat structure, thermal environment, and food available to arthropods, which play an important role in the structure and functioning of Arctic ecosystems. Not only do they provide key ecosystem services such as pollination and nutrient cycling, they are an essential food source for migratory birds. In this study I examined the relationships between the abundance, diversity, and community composition of arthropods and the height and cover of several shrub species across a tundra-shrub gradient in northwestern Alaska. To characterize nestling diet of common passerines that occupy this gradient, I used next-generation sequencing of fecal matter. Willow cover was strongly and consistently associated with abundance and biomass of arthropods and significant shifts in arthropod community composition and diversity.

The following catalogue of the Iranian fauna of Aphelinidae includes a list of all genera and species recorded for the country, their distribution in and outside Iran, and known hosts in Iran. In total 138 species from 11 genera (Ablerus, Aphelinus, Aphytis, Coccobius, Coccophagoides, Coccophagus, Encarsia, Eretmocerus, Marietta, Myiocnema, Pteroptrix) are listed as the fauna of Iran. The actual arthropod taxa comprising the chick diet are however rarely known, complicating assessments of ecological interactions. In this study, I identified the nestling diet of Svalbard snow bunting (Plectrophenax nivalis) for the first time. Faecal samples of snow bunting chicks were collected in Adventdalen, Svalbard in the breeding season 2018 and analysed via DNA metabarcoding. Simultaneously, the availability of prey arthropods was measured via pitfall trapping. The occurrence of 32 identified prey taxa in the nestling diet changed according to varying abundances and emergence patterns within the tun- dra arthropod community: Snow buntings provisioned their offspring mainly with the most abundant prey items which were in the early season different Chironomidae (Diptera) taxa and Scathophaga furcata (Diptera: Scathophagidae), followed by Spilogona dorsata (Diptera: Mus- cidae).

We also studied the experimental restoration of psammophytic grasslands to compare the impact of two near-natural restoration methods (spontaneous and assisted succession) to establishment of target species. The sand pit comprises stages of 2 to 30 years since site abandonment with moisture gradient from wet to dry habitats. In all studied groups, i.e. vascular pants and arthropods, open spontaneously revegetated sites continuously disturbed by intensive recreation activities hosted the largest proportion of target and endangered species which occurred less in the more closed spontaneously revegetated sites and which were nearly absent in technically reclaimed sites. Out results provide clear evidence that the mosaics of spontaneously established forests habitats and open sand habitats are the most valuable stands from the conservation point of view. It has been documented that no expensive technical reclamations are needed to restore post-mining sites which can serve as secondary habitats for many endangered and declining species. The experimental restoration of rare and endangered plant communities seems to be efficient and promising method for a future large-scale restoration projects in abandoned sand pits.

The Catalogue of Ichneumon Wasps of Slovakia (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) Part I: a Checklist of the Subfamily Cryptinae with 32 New Records. Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 65(1): 0167–0170. The subfamily Cryptinae Kirby, 1837 is considered the largest group in the Ichneumonidae with more than 400 described genera including around 4500 species. The subfamily has a worldwide distribution and its members play a key role in the biological control as parasitoids of many important pests. The study provides a new and updated overview of the Slovakian ichneumonid fauna after 28 years. So far over 750 species of Ichneumonidae have been reported from Slovakia, including around 150 species in the subfamily Cryptinae. Our study presents a complete checklist of Cryptinae and adds 32 species to the Slovakian fauna. It is apparently the first amber fossil that can be definitively assigned to Tenthredininae. It displays two diagnostic forewing characters for this subfamily: having a bend distally in vein R and the junctions of veins M and Rs + M with vein R being some distance from each other. The variance and possible transitions between the anal vein configurations among the genera in Tenthredininae is briefly discussed. The Subfamilies of Crabronidae Astatinae !Three genera and 16 species of astatine wasps are found in British Columbia. All species of Astata, Diploplectron, and Dryudella are groundnesting and provision their nests with heteropterans (Bohart and Menke 1976). Males of Astata and Dryudella possess holoptic eyes and are often seen perching on sticks or rocks. Bembicinae Nineteen genera and 47 species of bembicine wasps are found in British Columbia. All species are groundnesting and most prefer habitats with sand or sandy soil, hence the common name of “sand wasps”. Four genera, Bembix, Microbembex, Steniolia and Stictiella, have been recorded nesting in aggregations (Bohart and Horning, Jr. 1971; Bohart and Gillaspy 1985).

Taukumia KAZENAS, 1991, is synonymized with Eremiasphecium KOHL, 1897. A new species, Eremiasphecium arabicum sp. nov., is descnbed from El Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Eremiasphecium digitatum (GUSSAKOVSKU, 1930), previously known from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, is first recorded from Mauritania, and Eremiasphecium schmiedeknechüi, KOHL, 1897, first recorded from the Arabian Peninsula. A catalog of all described species is provided with füll bibliographic and distributional records. Introduction Eremiasphecium is a little known genus that occurs in hot, dry areas from Mauritania and Canary Islands to Mongolia. Specimens are rarely collected, recognition features are not well known, and the original description has been ignored. As a result, four generic names were proposed for the eight species recognized so far. Relationships of Eremiasphecium to other Sphecidae are still controversial because of an unusual combination of characters (BOHART and MENKE, 1976; ALEXANDER, 1990, 1992a, b).
