    ERCAS Accredited Sports Clubs in the East Riding (as of 1st April 2015) This list has been collated to help put you in touch with our many local accredited clubs. Clubs are listed in sport order, and each one states the level of accreditation that they have gained. An accredited club is one who has worked towards a series of standards to prove that they can provide a safe, child friendly environment for junior members. There are a number of accreditation schemes for clubs to work towards, such as National Governing Body (NGB) Accreditation, Sport England's ‘Clubmark’ Scheme, and the Council's own Club Accreditation Scheme (ERCAS) all of which are a quality standard for clubs. The level of accreditation is shown against each club. River response to recent environmental change in the Yorkshire Ouse basin, northern England. University of Leeds, Ph.D. This study examines historical variations in flood frequency and magnitude in the Yorkshire Ouse basin, northern England, over the last 900 years. The causes of temporal and spatial variations in flooding are evaluated through investigation of climatic and land-use controls. Documentary evidence of flooding and climate suggests that a series of large floods between 1263 and 1360 were associated with climatic deterioration from the Medieval Optimum. A shift to generally milder conditions between 1361 and 1549 resulted in no floods being documented in the Ouse basin The frequency of large magnitude floods increased dramatically between 1550 and 1680, as a result of low temperatures, increased surface wetness, more frequent snowfall and a southward shift of prevailing storm tracks over middle latitudes, associated with the onset of the "Little Ice Age’. In contrast, during a wanner phase of the Little Ice Age, between 1681 and 1763, the frequency of localised summer flooding increased in the Ouse basin due to more frequent high intensity, short duration convective storms.

    Snaith and Cowick Town Council Cemetery Committee Snaith, Cowick and Gowdall Cemetery User Guide The Snaith and Cowick Town Council Cemetery Committee is the Burial Authority for the Snaith, Cowick and Gowdall cemetery. When the Cemetery Committee holds a meeting a notice will be placed in the Snaith and Cowick Town Council notice board at least three clear days1 prior to the meeting and where possible on their web page. Meetings shall be open to the public unless specified (see full terms of reference). Three days notice must be given to the clerk by members of the public if they wish to speak at an open meeting with public participation. The Snaith, Cowick and Gowdall cemetery is located on the A645 (Pontefract Road) between Snaith and Pollington. The cemetery will be open during daylight hours. Anyone visiting the cemetery outside these hours does so at their own risk.     EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE HEARTH TAX ASSESSMENT MICHAELMAS 1672 by David and Susan Neave 1. INTRODUCTION This volume comprises the hearth tax returns for the historic East Riding of Yorkshire and the town and county of Hull.1 The East Riding, the smallest of the three Yorkshire ridings, covers some 750,000 acres (303,750 hectares). It is almost totally bounded by water with the Humber estuary to the south, the North Sea to the east, and the river Ouse to the west and south and river Derwent to the north. The boundary, around 200 miles in length, is only land- based for seven miles between York and Stamford Bridge and eight miles between Binnington Carr and North Cliff, Filey (Map 1).2 Hull, more correctly Kingston-upon-Hull, stands at the confluence of the river Hull and the Humber estuary. The riding divides into four main natural regions, the Yorkshire Wolds, Holderness, the Vale of York, and the Vale of Pickering (Map 2). The Yorkshire Wolds, a great crescent of chalk stretching from the Humber to the coast at Flamborough Head, is the most distinctive relief feature of the region. Essentially a high tableland of gently rolling downs dissected by numerous steep-sided dry valleys it reaches a maximum height of around 808 feet (246 metres) above sea-level near Garrowby Hill. At the coast the chalk cliffs rise up to 400 feet (120 metres). Along the western edge of the Wolds are the Jurassic Hills, a narrow band of limestone that broadens out to the north to form an area of distinctive scenery to the south of Malton.
