Joint fares apply to the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska. They also apply between the USA and Canada or within Canada. Joint fares involve interline travel between two airlines. The joint fare display function identifier is 4J. The 4J works similar to the 4F and all 4F options apply (i.e., If a travel date is not entered, the default is today). If a fare type is not entered the default is normal and excursion fares (NLX). MR, ML, MRS, MRR and MRA commands apply. A unique option applying to joint fares is -A. Denoting ALL airlines and displays ALL joint fares. In addition, you can specify a connection city, # (city code), limiting the display to those fares and airlines connecting in the specified city.

Ultimate Fare Search

Reference: HELP UFS INFO 4F/L

Ultimate Fare Search (UFS) is a date-related option that can be added to any of Worldspan’s fare display types, narrowing the parameters of the fare search. It automatically edits the fare request for one or more of the following: seasonal restrictions, advance purchase requirements, day-of-week applications (edits departure and return date individually), effective dates, minimum/maximum stay requirements, blackout, fare discontinued and travel completion dates. It does not edit for time of day, routing, specific or airport. The MRS (move right seasonal) entry applies when viewing the airline’s fares or specifying another airline. Any options found under HELP UFS can be applied to a 4F entry. The UFS options are always appended at the end of the entry.

Some common options are listed below.

Industry standards direct the display of currencies and how to construct and display fares when currencies are combined. Worldspan does this automatically. Pay particular attention to any special notes (usually lines 3 and 4) indicating MULTIPLE CURRENCIES APPLY - FARES CALCULATED FOR COMPARISON and the currency code in the next header line. Below are a few examples.

The header line repeats the entry (4FR3) including the city pair and date on original fare display. The second line displays the routing number (2) then a list of connecting cities and airlines allowed according to the fare rules filed. In this case there are several alternative routes. Cities separated with a slash (/) indicate either/or. Cities separated with a dash (-) indicate TO that city, but any city can be omitted. The asterisk (*) indicates the END of that routing.

The routing on the previous example means: From ATL to STL or CHI or DFW on . Connecting to American Airlines through SJC or RNO to LAX or Connecting to American Airlines in either DEN or LAS to LAX. or Connecting to American Airlines in PHX or SFO to LAX Or From ATL on American Airlines connecting in BHM to American Airlines to LAX

The ‘*’ at the end of a line indicates the end of the route.
