PITTSBURG, Kan. — Trophy winning from East Stroudsburg University and winning defensive end Mike McFadden from defending NCAA Division II National Champion Grand Valley State University headline a talented list of 148 players who have been named 2006 Preseason All-Americans by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette.

Terwilliger, a senior from East Stroudsburg, Pa., passed for 4,571 yards and 50 touchdowns in leading the Warriors to an 11-2 overall record and an NCAA-II semifinalist finish. Terwilliger became the first underclassman since the 2000 season (, Valdosta State) to capture the Harlon Hill Trophy.

McFadden, a senior from Saginaw, Mich., recorded 83 tackles with 21 tackles-for-loss and 19.0 quarterback sacks, while garnering the Upshaw Award as Division II’s top lineman. He also recovered three and intercepted a pass for the Lakers, who capped an unblemished 13-0 season with a 21-17 victory over Northwest Missouri State University in the 2005 NCAA Division II National Championship Game on Dec. 10 at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Ala.

The duo lead a senior-dominated cast on the 2006 preseason All-America list, with 93 seniors, 46 juniors and nine sophomores comprising the elite group. A total of 148 players representing all four geographic regions of NCAA Division II were named to the 2006 Football Gazette Preseason All-America team. Forty-one players on the 2006 preseason list earned All-America honors from Football Gazette in 2005.

Grand Valley State, which rolled to the program’s third national title in the last four seasons in 2005, led the way with six selections.

This marks the 19th year Don Hansen’s Football Gazette, a recognized authority on small , has selected NCAA Division II All-America and Preseason All-America teams.
