52ND ANNUAL MEETING , MAY 18-21, 2016 NAPA, EXTENSION TRIP MAY 22-25, 2016

LADC.ORG A Message from the President

You are invited to join us for the 2016 LADC Annual Meeting in San Francisco, the City by the Bay, and with the option of an extended stay in Napa Valley.

San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and this trip has a little something for everyone. We are staying at the Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf, which could not be better located and with things kicking off with a welcome dinner and reception at the hotel on May 18th. In the mornings, you can attend our first-class CLE with special guests, including distinguished members of the judiciary and others presenting at our sessions. We can then spend the afternoons and nights enjoying the sights of the City. This will be easy to do as the cable cars are near our hotel and we have two day on/off tour pass, a group cruise and trip to Alcatraz, and a guided tour to famous neighborhoods and locations like China Town, Union Square and , to name a few.

We also have options for sports and history. The will be playing the Cubs at AT&T Park on May 20th and 21st, where balls hit over the right field wall splash in the Bay. We also have the San Francisco Maritime Historical Park at Fisherman’s Wharf, with ships ranging from sailing vessels to the U.S.S. Pampanito, a WWII submarine which saw action in the War, sinking 7 enemy vessels. The Legion of Honor Fine Arts Museum overlooks the , and houses over 4000 years of art, along with western papers and prints, and walking trails to the Bay.

Of course, the food is some of the best in the world, even for us Louisiana folks who are somewhat spoiled when it comes to great cuisine. You will be able to choose your own restaurants on some nights, but with Kimberly having us set up at the Waterbar, for a great closing get-together for cocktails and dining on May 21st.

Finally, and certainly not the least, there is an optional trip to Napa Valley on May 22nd through 25th, with rooms reserved at the Silverado Resort and Spa. This is truly a premier property, with two golf courses, great spa facilities and of course, wineries nearby. We have a group tour lined up to visit wineries, and with a tasting scheduled when we arrive.

In selecting this location, I heard from many of you, including our younger members, who enthusiastically selected San Francisco and the wine country as their much preferred destination.

I encourage you to sign up for this first class trip with something for everyone! See you there! Bobby S. Gilliam LADC President San Francisco, California
