JOB OPPORTUNITY (paid) with the Teen Advisory Board de Young 2018-19

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM: Under the direction of the Manager of Teen and Family Programs, Teen Advisors are high school students who join the staff of the Fine Arts of . Teen Advisors represent the museum and work to bring more teens into the museum especially our annual Teens Take Action! event and all teen programs.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Hours and Location: The position will start on June 20, 2018 and end on May 4, 2019. The role starts on June 20, 2018 with two weeks of training on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays from 1-4pm. Training occurs June 20th through June 29th. After training regular work shifts are on Friday afternoons at the from 4:30-6:30pm starting July 13, 2018 through May 4, 2019. During December through May. There are 2-3 Friday shifts. Teen Advisors are paid $15/hour. There are no paid vacation time. Please do not schedule any appointments during your work hours.

Duties: Teen Advisors will learn about current programs for teens, generate ideas for events and programs, and recruit teens throughout the Bay Area to attend events and programs. Teen Advisors will work with our team of Teaching Artists, staff and interns to build their skills. Teamwork, communication and collaboration are necessary skills for this role.

SELECTION OF MUSEUM AMBASSADORS: This role is for students currently enrolled in high school in the 9th through 11th grades. Applicants must be willing to participate in groups discussions, share ideas, work as a part of a team, and promote events on personal social media accounts and at individual high schools. Teens Advisors will be selected on the basis of their enthusiasm, their willingness to learn about art, and work with the public. No background in art is necessary. The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are the city’s largest public arts institutions and comprise the de Young and the museums.
