Collection The Book of Kells, contains lavishly decorated copy of the four gospels. The Book of Kells was probably produced early in the 9th century on the island of Iona, off the west coast of Scotland, and partially it is believed, at Kells, Co. Meath where it was moved for safekeeping in the Viking raids. It was moved to it’s current location in Trinity College Dublin in 1653 during the Cromwellian period.
