The main approaches are data research, keyman interview, field survey, and so on. The emphases of this report are the resettlement progress, resettlement fund distribution, resettlement policy, institutional arrangement of the resettlement, and to evaluate the resettlement effect by interviewing affected people and resettlement cadres and field survey. II. 2RESETTLEMENT FUND AND PROGRESS Resettlement of Gansu Luoding expressway project had been completed in the mass by December 31th, 2007 .Project construction is under way and orderly. Gansu Land&Resource Department would distribute the land acquisition fee to each county. Then affected people get their land compensation from each county according to related policy. Resettlement fund payment met this project’s demand. Because the fragmentary land acquisition is ongoing uninterruptedly in the progress of the construction, so the land acquiristion compensation and the quantity of land occupied changes continually. Changda Road Co., Ltd of Gansu Transportation Department has signed implementation agreement with each affected county’s people government about compensation for demolished houses and other attachments. Each county distributes compensation fee for demolished houses and other attachments to affected households. Resettlement fund of 736,221,200RMB has been distributed. Information about resettlement fund is shown in table 1. Land acquisition had been completed by Janauary 31. 18,799 mu land has been acquired, the status of land acquisition and new house construction progress is shown in table 2. Comment: Resettlement fund payment satisfied this project’s demand. The progress of land acquisition and house demolishing can basically satisfy this project’s demand for construction land. 1 SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION REPORT Table 1 Resettlement Compensation Fund(By December 31, 2007) Unit:10,000 RMB Jingchuan County Kongtong County Jingning County Reality/Pla Reality/P Reality/ Subject Plan Reality Plan Reality Plan Reality n lan Plan 5946.95 10321.3 1.0573 6183.3 6980.4 1.1289 1 Permanent Land Acquisition 6634.34 1.1492 10912.3 1 2 Temporary Construction Land 0 0 3 House Compensation 740.1 1606.1575 2.1702 1588.5 3747.4413 2.3591 591.4 960.87 1.6247 4 Appendage Compensation 319.5 1.3053 685.7 0.7557 255.3 0.0000 5 Demolishing Compensation 7 0 0 9.56 0.0000 4.96 0.0000 6 Tree Compensation 50.5 619.7802 12.2729 108.4 2123.3673 19.5883 40.4 1141.41 27.1142 7 Affected Facility Compensation 8 Local Road 9 Supervision and Evaluation 10 Vulnerable Group Surport 11 Preparation Fee 12 Administration Fee 70.6 237.8 3.3683 127.1 411 3.2337 70.75 200.46 2.9251 13 Cultivating Fee 14 Woodland Restoration Fee 7134.65 1.3421 1.3011 9305.7777 1.3042 12840.5 17234.1086 7146.13 9298.13 Subtotal 1 2 SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION REPORT Extend Table 1 Resettlement Compensation Fund(By December 31, 2007) Unit:10,000 RMB Huining County Anding County Subtobal Reality/Pl Subject Plan Reality Reality/Plan Plan Reality Reality/Plan Plan Reality an 1 Permanent Land Acquisition 6824.9 7976.48 1.1687 5318.1136 6199.76 1.1658 34594.6 38903.28 1.1245 2 Temporary Construction Land 90.8 0 0 3 House Compensation 917.6 3074.4036 3.3505 281.8 699.2698 2.4814 4119.4 10088.14 2.4489 4 Appendage Compensation 396.1 0.0000 121.6 0.0000 1778.1 10227.1 6.0329 5 Demolishing Compensation 10.32 0.0000 3.16 0.0000 35.04 7 0.1998 6 Tree Compensation 62.6 132.7 2.2000 19.2 146.0312 7.6058 281.1 4163.2887 14.8107 7 Affected Facility Compensation 635.48 1055.02 1.6602 8 Local Road 2802 0 0.0000 9 Supervision and Evaluation 443.01 9 0.0203 10 Vulnerable Group Support 443.01 0 0.0000 11 Preparation Fee 4430.1 0 0.0000 12 Administration Fee 82.1 290.4 3.5371 57.4 172.22 3.0003 1329 1318.37 0.992 13 Cultivating Fee 10547 8421.9392 0.7985 14 Woodland Restoration Fee 632.5 1.3834 1.2188 62161.1 1.1801 8293.6 11473.98 5801.2736 7070.461 736.12 Subtotal 1 Appendage includes all of the power, telecommunication, water and other facilities from east and west sections of the Pingding Expressway Project. 3 SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION REPORT Table 2 Resettlement Progress(By December 31th, 2007) Unit: Household House Demolishing Land Acquistion NO. However, there have been few studies on the environmental impacts of agricultural production in this pattern. We used the life cycle assessment (LCA) method for the first time from the perspective of the entire industry chain from agricultural material production to livestock marketing, which involves the combination of planting and breeding. A comparative analysis of the environmental impact processes of beef and pork, the main products of the two existing agricultural systems in Eastern Gansu, was conducted.

Compared to other regions in China, rural labor migration in Pingliang city, Gansu has owned unique characteristics. In the light of rural labor resource status, local government adjusts measures to particular conditions and seeks after the way for its rural labor migrations that is propitious to current situation. As a result, rural income has been improved, and local economy has been stable. My aim is to highlight the impact of overall employment strategy on less developing regions in Northwest of China. Based on my fieldworks on Pingliang in 2008 I present six migration patterns investigated in which local labor migrants succeed and its extension to other regions to tackle employment problems. Keywords: Rural labor migration, Pingliang city, Migration patterns 1. Introduction Migration, which can be considered a significant feature of livelihoods in developing regions, is pursuit of better living standards. Ever since the seminal work of Ravenstein (Ravenstein, E., 1899) numerous studies have explored various aspects of this pervasive phenomenon.

  • Queen Mother of the West the Changing Face of a Goddess
backstory Queen Mother of the West The Changing Face of a Goddess he story of the Queen Mother of the West— who appears as the goddess of immortality T in UMMA’s ancient carved limestone slab— is one of the oldest legends in China; it has endured in one form or another for two millennia and still plays a variety of roles in contemporary life. Painting from Dingjiazha tomb no. 5, Jiuquan, Gansu province, circa 400. The Queen Mother appears repeatedly in ancient funerary icono- graphy. Here she is shown seated in her west- ern paradise accompanied by a three-legged bird, a nine-tailed fox, and an attendant holding an umbrella over her head. The upper level of the tomb also included a painting of the paradise of the Lord of the East, with whom the Queen Mother was often paired. Festival of the Peaches of Longevity, Ming dynasty (1368–1644), 15th century (Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Missouri). The Queen Mother’s enchanted palace in the Kunlun mountains was said to contain beautiful pagodas, lotus-filled ponds, jewel-laden trees, attending immortals, and lovely maidens. In her garden grew the peaches of immortality; these legendary fruits, of which she was the guardian, ripened only once every 3000 years and just a single bite was believed to grant eternal life. In her earliest incarnation, the Queen glamorized as the Queen Mother Mother of the West, also known as in Taoist and popular belief; as a Xiwangmu, was a great creative power ruler of heaven she was transformed of nature linked with the Lord of into the beautiful caretaker of the the East, Dongwanggong.

By using GIS and related statistical analysis software, this paper summarizes three basic urban and rural types: river channel type, plateau surface type, and loess terrace horizon prototype in the Loess Landscape Jinghe River Basin. It is known that most towns in the loess plateau gully area are in the Jinghe River Basin. According to the spatial distribution characteristics of urban and rural areas, the optimal layout based on the main structure of five districts, nine River corridors, and four plates is proposed. Using the DEM module of ArcGIS to divide the elevation and gradient of Guangnan County, we know that the density of urban and rural settlements in Guangnan County is low and the spatial distribution is dispersed, and the distribution of urban and rural settlements shows a strong elevation orientation.

Our method consisted of using the distributed eco-hydrological model (Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model) to simulate water yield, the Carnegie-Ames-Stanford Approach (CASA) model to estimate Net Primary Productivity (NPP), the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) model to calculate soil erosion and the Crop Productivity (CP) model to simulate agricultural productivity to quantify the four ecosystem services. Based on the network established, the key variable subset and the visual optimal state subset, which we visualized, were analyzed and used to provide spatial optimization suggestions for the four kinds of ecosystem services studied. Our results indicate that water yield, concentrated in the middle and lower reaches of the mountain and river areas, is increasing in the Jinghe River Basin. NPP is continuously increasing and is distributed in the middle and lower reaches of the mountain areas on both sides of the river. Agricultural productivity also shows an upward trend, with areas of high productivity concentrated in the southern downstream mountain areas.
