Providence High School Advanced Placement United States History Summer Reading 2018
Welcome to APUSH! We have lots to learn this year and we are going to have fun doing it.
This class will be your most challenging history class to date; the course is designed to align with two semesters of college-level United States history. That means you are going to have to organize your time and energy to complete assignments and readings.
To help you prepare for the accelerated pace and independent learning of this course, you should get a head start reading the textbook:
American Pageant: A History of the American People
ISBN: 9781111831066 Authors: Lizabeth Cohen, David M. Kennedy
Read chapters 1 and 2 in The American Pageant .
Then complete the two chapter terms sheets below. For each term, write two sentences; your first sentence should define the term and your second sentence should describe the significance of the term.
Print both Chapter sheets and complete them in your own handwriting with blue or black ink pen. I suggest you plan to complete the Chapter One reading and terms from The American Pageant in June, and the Chapter Two reading and terms in July. Then, review both chapters in August before school starts.
This assignment will be evaluated out of 30 points, so make sure you complete it throughly and according to the directions above. This will help get your "A" grade started! There will also be a multiple choice quiz on chapters 1 and 2 the second class meeting of the school year.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you in August. Study smart, rest well, and stay safe! PAGEANT CHAPTER 01 TERMS Name______Date______
