For eternity. 14 June 2015, Le Mans: two 919 Hybrid racing cars cross the finish line just a few centimetres apart from each other, this impressive one-two finish ensuring yet another overall win at the classic ‘24 Hours of Le Mans’ endurance race. This is the seventeenth overall victory to be secured here by Porsche – exactly 45 years to the day after the first overall Porsche win in this town on the River Sarthe. No other manufacturer has achieved so many successes at the world’s toughest long-distance championship and is so closely associated with the Le Mans legend. At the wheel of the winning car, number 19, sat Earl Bamber (New Zealand), Nico Hülkenberg (Germany) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain), who completed an impressive 395 laps in the 24 hour period. The 919 Hybrid sporting the number 17 took second place.
